Mediocre banner made with GIMP. Feel free to make a new one!

Welcome to the grand opening of the PPT Graphics Gallery! This is not only a place for all the graphic artists out there to show off what they can make with a computer, but also a conversational place to get comments and criticism from the rest of the community. Also, don't be afraid to ask an artist how they made something. You might not always get a response, but some people may be willing to share their expertise.

Important Rules: Please read before posting!
1. ALL WORK MUST BE YOUR OWN! Do not post any art that you found on another website that you just think looks cool. This isn't the place for that.
2. Do not take anything posted in this thread unless the artist gives you explicit permission.
3. If posting art, please include what program you are using to make it (GIMP, Photoshop, PSP, etc.).
4. All criticism must be constructive. Telling someone that their work sucks (even if you put a "no offense" before it) is not allowed. If you don't have anything helpful to say, then don't say it.
5. Extremely large art (i.e. wallpapers) should be posted as links.
6. All other rules of the board apply.

And without further ado...

The Gallery is now open for posting!

Whoo, posts!

OK WIS, I'll tackle the Pushing Daisies one for now.
Simply amazing. The use of cork board, ransom note-style letters, and other random pictures all just seem very quirky and offbeat--exactly like the show (plus, the centers of the daisies look like pies!). Excellent job!

I'm back for the rest of...everything.
WIS
Sunrise sig: Nice Illustrator work. I'm not too crazy about the way the colors blend together, but that's probably just me.

Zuma sig: This one seems really original. The patches (assuming that's what they are) coming out of the pocket look cool. It almost has a surreal quality to it, but the hand at the right keeps you in reality.

Flower sig: Well...there's nothing bad about it, but it just seems a little boring. If you were just looking for an example of what you can do in Illustrator, this would be PERFECT, but as far as a stand-alone piece of artwork goes, it needs a little more. Perhaps making some of the leaves different colors and shades, though I don't know if that would detract from the vector quality.

Medli
Way to read instructions. :P Well, I know you're using Elements anyway.

Image< this one is the best, I think. It has a little artistic flair in it. I think the Team 8 and "To Life To Love" ones are tied for second best; they're simple, yet pretty. The Itachi one looks just a bit messy at the bottom but I've seen worse, so no worries. The SakuraxSai (or is that Sasuke?) one bothers me, so I won't comment.

And now for something of my own, made a while time ago in GIMP and entered in Susanahmio's set contest:

These three are my favourite. The colours in them are just... waow.

I love the jeans one with the things jumping out - very creative. Kinda makes me think of Skittles.

Ooh, you've upgraded!

DM
The middle two look good, but the text in the first in last ones should probably be different colors so that they pop out a little more. Actually, I think the first one is just a case of the background making the text a little illegible, so if you cleaned it up around the "dm", it might end up looking a lot better.

Medli, I really love some of your icons. They're gorgeous. :D I agree with Byakuya that this one:
Image is your best. It's pretty and simple and well-composed! I also like the text in the icon with the text "breakdown". Out of all of those, the one with "lightsdown" as the text is my least favorite, though still good, it looks a bit boring.

Byakuya San, I really like that signature! It has nice colors and I love the simplicity there. I would have preferred that you had chosen a simpler font for the text as well, something really plain like Arial or Helvetica or Calibri.

DM, I really love that sig you made for Medli. The background looks very cool, and the colors and tones just work very well together in that one. It also has a steely-grungy feel that I think is perfect for the image you chose! I feel like in some of the other ones, like number 2 or 4, that the color of the background doesn't work with the images too well. For example, I think maybe a darkish brown would have worked nicely with the last signature.

Here's some more comment fodder!

Programs: Photoshop & Illustrator CS3, as always :)

You guys might have noticed that some of my sigs are 50px above the PPT size limit. That's because I go on this site where people battle sigs (it's fun) and the size limit there is a bit bigger. So I usually have a cropped version for PPT. =D

Tsu - No, but I can make you an Ayu set if you want. Just stop by my request board and let me know what you want.

Thanks for the ratings, guys.
SIW-SIW...that was actually the colour of the background on the original. I took the colour from it. :P
Oh well.

And yeah, my first one...I went too crazy with the brushes. I was trying to make up for how terrible the quality of the picture was and I failed.
But I'm still usin' it because of what it is.

RATINS TIEM.

SIW-SIW: ong quit being so awesome. The first one is adorable, the second is just awesome...and I don't quite get the third one, but it still looks pretty cool. I have like...nothing to say.

Byakuya: I always have problems spelling your username. XP
Anyway, the signature is very nicely done. However, I agree with WIS when he says to use just a normal serif font (I prefer Century Gothic). ^^

Medli: I WANT YOUR ICONS IN MY BED AND UNDER MY COVERS. XD
srsly. I wanna request a couple for my GJ sometime. <3

Anyway. I love these. I don't think you should've have any text on the "lightsdown" one, however. The colours are nice enough for it not to have any text on it.

I tried out Arial on the sig. Think it looks better?

WIS
You MUST teach me how to make such good vectors someday (I actually have CS3, but I'm more comfortable with GIMP). You did a great job in all three sigs, but my favorite is the violin one. The wood background works very nicely for it.

Much better. ^^ I would space it just a little so the "I" isn't in the white box, but that's just me.

---

I decided to try and be like Medli and make kick-arse icons.
...I fail.
BUT I GOT SOME GOOD ICONS FOR MY LJ OUT OF THE DEAL.
