Display your creative spirit here in the Pink Poogle Toy Gallery. It can be art... it can be music... it can be a poem (even haiku)... but most of it... it must be you.

Meet whom i'm fondly calling Ratticus. He's a project in my studio course. He's a 30 x 20 inch painting that i've spent 45 + hours on so far, and am still not even half done. (Background and all that).

This is his tail (it's incomplete). (lol. I'm so tired I almost wrote "uncomplete)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v231/ahoteinrun/IMGP2716.jpg A body shot. (yes he is green, but his species (which doesn't exist) has an explanation for that).

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v231/ahoteinrun/IMGP2717.jpg

Front half.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v231/ahoteinrun/IMGP2718.jpg

Back half.

And yeah, he's all watercolor. Lots of little brush strokes, thousands and thousands of brush strokes and multiple layers. It's not easy to get that sorta build on something that big. I think i'm nuts. HAH!
He's still not completed and it's making me a bit nuts. Him, complied with 9 other small drawings I have to complete as well as exams is an unpleasant situation to deal with. But yeah. I figured I should share while I have a camera as he is definately not scannable. So there he is. The colors are all messed up i'm sure. He's got a lot of blues/greens, and fun ness in him. And i'm sorry for my absolutely terrible photos, but I am very fond of him.
If I do nothing else with my semester and only finish him, I will be happy.

Hehe, I was going to say that you seem almost done! But yes... backgrounds. I always forget about those things ;)

What a mammoth effort! I'm still amazed that it's watercolour. Wow.

What do you have planned for the background? (if that's not classified information)

Heh.

Well... the backgrounds going to be rather washed out. The branch/tree (that the tail) is wrapped around will be in focus and obvious, but the rest of the background will be more of a wash. I want this to be more representative of the old style wild life paintings, hence the lack of a really indepth background. That and time.
I'd die painting a background in that style.

I kind of like the first one :).

:o Wow, those are awesome. I'd never have that much patience. I'd do a 30-second doodle and hire an artist to make it look better.

I logged on 6 more hours of it today and i'm almost done the tail and the feet. Heh.
But my prof liked it, so woo hoo.

Here you get a shot of the finished product against a whole bunch of other drawings. Hah. I hope you all enjoy it, and thankyou.

Apparently my work was only good enough to get this one image in the whole student open studio show... but whatever. I'm tired of fighting the politics at my school.

Inrun, I can't believe that is all watercolor. You are a phenomenal artist. My God. Such a gift that you have.

I make myself sick sometimes because all I can stare at is the flaws. I love it, but at the same time my little brain can only think "I can do better, I know I can do better... I could have pushed the colors... I could have pushed the shadows". One day i'll figure out how hard I can push myself... but until that day, i'll just be content with the fact that this was the start of something i'd like to continue.

As horrid as I sound, i'm immensely proud of this work. And though I may want to go in and rework some things (The tail... and some of the light/shadows), I still love it.

Inrun, I just saw the whole piece. It is mindblowing. You do such a fantastic thing with paint and brush. I am so envious because if I try to even make a smiley face--a circle, two dots and a curve, I somehow mess it up. Keep up the good work. :)

I'm so glad to see the whole piece up! FANTASTIC WORK!! (and I love the name :D )

Incredible! Keep it up! Love to see more of your work posted.
