((If Amethyst has a harbor, you could go there and buy a passage to Returana. If Saria wants to go under cover, she could say she's the queen's server or something and is going ahead to get the palace prepared.

Just a thought, though. I'm not the GC, so you don't have to use my silly ideas. You've probably thought of something better already. :) ))

((Unusual is good! Makes things more fun for everyone!

I've finally got a good idea on what to do with Alia! Right now I've got the Flu, so I've just been kind of hanging around. I'll try and get a post up soon.))

[FM, when you come back on, please reply to my previous posts. ;)]

Althea's old teacher threw up his hands in frustration. Ever since the Lady had gone, the problems just seemed to keep coming and coming. It was as if all of Zircon's luck and protection had gone up to the surface with her. If that was the case, he fervently wished for her return.

If the Lady came back safely, most of the people's fears would disappear. And much as he refused to admit it, much of the tutor's fears would subside as well.

Ever since the voice - Althea's voice, her subjects claimed - had called to ever single person in the kingdom, the Zirconians had been in constant worry about her. Even the old tutor was anxious about her well-being, although he insisted that it was a hallucination.

'Most of you probably never heard any voice at all and just imagined you did,' was his argument. A few people were swayed by what he said but most staunchly stood by what they believed: that they had heard the Lady crying for help.

No one knew just how they had all managed to hear their ruler's pleas or why she had been calling in the first place. No one knew what had happened to the Lady afterwards and if anyone had saved her. Some of the more pessimistic ones whispered that perhaps the Lady had been seriously injured ... Their thoughts were quickly quenched by the others who did not want to hear of anything bad happening to their beloved Althea. But even the pessimistic ones would not say what everyone was thinking: Was she, their Lady, dead?

It was an unthinkable notion, yet it remained in everyone's heads.

Then a little child had been playing too near the water and had slipped and fallen in. Not knowing how to swim, he splashed about helplessly before he sank and drowned. By the time he was rescued, he was close to death's door and crossed over despite the healers' best efforts to save him. People wept that if Althea had been there, she would have saved him, just like she had saved Dev. Althea was by no means the most skilled and knowledgable healer, but she had arguably the most raw healing power.

And there was more.

The tutor's face sank into his hands as he groaned.

That morning when the fishermen had prepared to go out for a day's work, they had reported the water was covered by a thick, dense layer of black oil. All the fish in their traps were dead and rotting and no fresh fish could be caught that day.

((Egh, sorry- I've been on vacation and neglected to tell um...anyone :P))

Foriae grinned and kept in-step with Althea.
"Well, we will get there by boat for most of the journey and horses for some of it. I'm not sure how long the journey takes," Foriae said doubtfully, "But it shant be too long."
"Also, the council meeting should last as long as it needbe, this is both our first meeting, so I know not that much. And as for where it is it is held in Returana; a small island that is cloaked in dense forest. It is situated near Topaz but is uninhabited by law."

((Still alive and kicking. :P And yes, Ria, I understand.. Life can catch up and swamp you really quick. *Kicks RL matters that have to be handled, but can be boring*))

Merle's face grimaced. Just a week ago, he had visited the ship that was supposed to carry him and his following to Returnata. He still remembered the creaky wood, the patched up and patched again sails, the vessel itself leaning dangerously to the left and, worst of all, the feeling of nausea when had put one feet onto it.

Which had reminded him that he wasn't even closely related to a sailor. And that he could barely swim.. well, not swim at all. (He guessed flopping helplessly around in a puddle of water didn't count.) Plus, the sad fact that Topaz had no real fleet know shone brightly when he looked at the worn down boat that was supposed to make it to Returnata.

To make matters worse, some kind of gigantic (every time he had talked to victims, the monster had grown in size) beast was terrorizing the waters near Topaz and Zircon.

Yes, it was insane .. definitly insane to sail out. But, he needed to see the other leaders. The sea monster was only one of the unnatural events striking his land. Pools of water had become poisonous without a reason, the rains hadn't come this winter.. again. It wasn't uncommon for Topaz to see no rain for a year, but this time, the past ten years there had been none. And then there was the disease. Until the letter from Diamond, Merle had considered all this as bad luck. Life was harsh in the desert, it wasn't uncommon for a sibling to lose one or more brother or sister.

The winged snake that visited his garden had been gone for several weeks now. Instead, he had seen a brutal raven.

Merle turned around, watching at the sea again. The sailors were running over the decks, trying to rebalance the ship.

Soon they would leave.

[Will we be boarding a ship from the beach or from one of those staircases that leads straight into the sea?]

Aksul and Saria rode for a long time. Wolf pounded behind them, panting softly. Every little noise made his ears twitch and made him stop for a while, growling softly. He stopped them so much that the sun was setting by the time they got to the beach.

Saria dismounted and let the sea breeze blow her hair. She raised her head and looked at the splashing colours in the sky, and the beautiful setting sun, half behind the cloud which looked orange from the sun's rays.

Saria smiled as Wolf bounded along the beach, clearly excited by a change of scenery. She turned and patted Aksul's neck, before saying, "Aksul, I will return later."

The horse whinnied. "Stay in the woods until I call you," Saria added, and almost as if the horse understood, he turned and padded off into the darkness of the trees.

Saria took cloth from her bag and wrapped it around her head until only her eyes were showing. She didn't want anyone to know who she was. Saria walked to the pier, Wolf following along behind her.

Saria dug in her pocket and took out some coins, before asking a man if she could buy passage on his boat. The man nodded and replied, "Yep."

"Will this cover the cost?" Saria asked, spreading out her hands which had a few coins in it. "He is coming too," she added, gesturing to Wolf.

"Yep."

"When does the boat leave?" Saria asked.

"In five."

"Five minutes?" Saria questioned.

"Yep."

There was a pause as Saria figured out that the man was a man of few words. "Can I board?"

"Yep."

Saria stepped forward hesitantly and boarded the boat, Wolf padding along behind her.

[Decided to be boring. xP]

((Hello everyone, I'm back!))

Serenity

Darkness, all around. It pressed in on her and suffocated her.
Then she realised that her eyes were closed.
Upon opening them, a musky smell hit her. She choked on the unpleasant smell. She panicked when she realised she was buried under a wood and bricks.
Strong arms pulled her up, out of the rubble. She rubbed her eyes and looked up at her rescuer.
Echo looked down at her, irritably.
"Warn me next time you're going to do something like that," he told her.
He was badly brusied and cut.
"Are you hurt?" he asked her.
"I don't think so," she replied, "Just a bit bruised but nothing really bad,"
He grabbed her hand and pulled her away from the remains of the building, "Lets leave. I don't want to be here when they wake up,"

Echo

They left Garnet as soon as they could, finding camp on the outskirts of the kingdom.
Echo sat on a rock, staring deep into the dark night.
"I knew it was a bad omen," he commented.
"What was a bad omen?" Serenity asked, interested.
"That whinged snake we saw earlier. You should have let me kill it,"
"Omens? I don't believe in omens. I won't let you kill an innocent creature because of an 'omen',"
"They're all bad luck, big black dogs, cats: as big as I am... birds with claws that'll rip straight through you..."
"I'll bet you've never seen anything like that! You probably don't know anything about them!" Serenity said skeptically.
"I do know one thing. That snake'll be back, to finish us off, or something like that," he pulled a long black dagger out of his cloak and sharpened it on the rock, "I'll get it this time..."
