Yoshi Islands: Elemental Divide
Theme: Megumi Hayashibara - Over Soul

Name:
Age:
Rank:
Gender:
Species:
Island of origin:
Jutsus:
Weapon(s):
Appearance/Description:
Other:

Setting: An alternative Earth. It is populated by what one would expect to inhabit an earthly environment, excluding, of course, humans. In their place thrive a species of Yoshi who reside upon a mass of large islands. Nothing is known of what rests across the vast, encompassing ocean, however.

Islands: These islands operate as separate political entities, monarchies presumably. Within each exists landlords who rule over the land, their rank equal to that of the leaders of the islands’ Veiled Villages. Balance is kept threw power alone, although peace treaties are signed from time to time. Generally, however, they are not worth much.

Each island possesses one Veiled Village. As stated previously, the leaders of these villages hold a rank equal to that of the ruling landlords. To maintain their economy, each trains its citizenry from an early age to become a Yoshinobi, their purpose to be used as manpower in various missions offering pay for their completion.

A multitude of islands exist. However, only five are inhabited by their respected breed of Yoshi currently. Each is oriented towards a particular element. Earth, Fire, Wind, Water, and Lightning are of the largest. The Earth Island, holding ownership to the Veiled Soils Village, possesses Yoshis naturally able to manipulate earth energies. They are usually hued umbers, greys, and other earthly colours. The Fire Island possesses the Veiled Igneous Village as well as Yoshis able to summon flames naturally. Their colours range from various shades of reds, oranges and yellows. The Wind Island holds the Veiled Wisp Village. The inhabitants there are usually green in colour and are, by nature, able to manipulate and muster winds. The Water Island contains the Veiled Mist Village. As expected, they are gifted with the skill to call forth waters and are commonly dark blue in tinge. Some are blessed with ice summoning abilities, their colours normally shades of purple. And finally, the Lightning Island with its Veiled Cloud Village. The Yoshis there specialize in electric techniques and are ordinarily vibrant, light blues.

Yoshinobi: As explained above, Yoshis are trained from an early age to become Yoshinobis, warriors skilled in the arts of stealth, combat, and various breeds of Yojutsu. Yojutsu involves the manipulation and channelling of ones energy (Better referred to as Kasei), which in turn yields devastating attacks. Hand seals (Consecutive positions the hands are placed into to channel different types/concentrations of Kasei successfully.) usually accompany this art. However, for simple shaping/throwing of the relevant element, hand seals are not needed as the Yoshi, depending on its origin, automatically converts the summoned Kasei into its own respected element.

(In short and because I don’t quite know how to explain it, hand seals are usually used for techniques holding magical/mystical properties. For example: Stream of fire from mouth requires no hand seals. Fire erupting from the body and forming into a large dragon requires hand seals. =P)

There are two other types of Jutsus, Koujutsu and Gijutsu. Koujutsu is quite simply hand-to-hand combat, techniques involving martial arts. Kasei is not necessarily essential, although it at times used to heighten the effectiveness of some techniques. Gijutsu is an illusionary art that relies on Kasei to produce false environments to manipulate or deceive an opponent. It can cause an individual to smell, taste, hear, feel, or see things that do not actually exist.

Each Yoshinobi is awarded a rank which allows them to participate in more difficult missions with the successful completion of an exam. The ranks are Academy Student, Bronze Yoshinobi, Silver Yoshinobi, Gold Yoshinobi, and Joushi, leaders of the Veiled Villages. Ranks can be determined by the colour of their metallic bracers, each decorated by a symbol which represents their home village/island. To be a student, it is required to do just that, be a student and attend the school each day. The bronze rank is awarded to those who graduate from the Academy and only requires one to wear the bracer that is presented. They can take part in D ranked missions designed to build confidence. The silver rank can become teachers and teach the basics they have learned in the academy as well as take part in C and B ranked missions. The Gold ranked are considered the elite of the village and can take on A ranked missions.

Joushi are, of course, the leaders and strongest of the villages. They are selected by the village’s high council. The Joushi of the Veiled Mist Village is referred to as the Mizujoushi, the Veiled Wisp Village holds the Kazejoushi, the Veiled Soils Village possesses the Tsuchijoushi, the Veiled Igneous Village’s is titled the Hijoushi, and lastly the Cloud Village holds the Raiujoushi.

The Yoshinobi Academy: As previously stated, Yoshis are trained from an early age to become Yoshinobis. It can be compared to an elementary school, beginning ages being around five years of age an completion around twelve years of age. The basics of Yojutsu, Koujutsu and Gijutsu are taught here as well as other necessary skills such as math, language arts, etc. With graduation, the young warriors are placed in groups of three and receive further instruction from a gold ranked Yoshinobi outside the confinements of a classroom.

Story: Uncertain currently. ^-^;; ((We’ll see if people are actually interested in this rp. Maybe the sign up process will give me a little more time to come up with an interesting story and a little time to come up with an appropriate character.
n,n;; ))

A few notes:
-Shoes are not necessary for a Yoshi and neither are saddles. =P
-When choosing Jutsus (Without choosing anything, its assumed you know the basics of the three.), remember the more you choose, the less proficient you can be in them. Can choose up to three, which would include all.
-You may choose to control another element besides your own. Beware, it requires one of your three slots and always requires hand seals.
-About hand seals. When preformed, no need to be specific or overly descriptive. Just “performs a few hand seals” is fine. Just keep in mind that performing them takes time depending on the strength/complexity of the assail.
-You may choose another species that was featured in the other Mario games if you like.
-Have fun! And remember to look here for updates. (Which will be in green.)
