Anyone else looking foward to this great spectacle? I have high hopes for England, but also a small voice reminding me of all the disadvantages we have this year. Ah well just as long as Brazil doesn't win again 0:)

I also have high hopes for Team USA. The FIFA rankings, where the US floated anywhere from fourth to about seventh, gave us a reason for optimism this time around, but I really think they're inflated.

I really believe their chances of making noise in the tournament are pretty much dependent on how they play against their opponents because it looks like the runner up in the group will be against Brazil. :\

Who's in USA's group? England has Sweden, Paraguay and Trinidad and Tobago - shouldn't be too hard to qualify.

They were grouped with Italy, the Czech Republic, and Ghana. The lack of coverage here prevents me from actually being able to watch any of those teams in action, but I heard based on sportswriters' opinions and the world rankings that it'll be a tough group.

*waves USA flag* Yes yes! Ready and excited to go!
Although I know absolutely nothing about the players and such, always fun to root for yer country!

From what i've seen C (Netherlands/Argentina/Cote D'ivoire/Serb&Monteg) is the "death group" and for a few E (as Senja stated) is one also.

Yeahh... got to hope for 1st place to avoid Brazil... Unless Brazil somehow takes a dive... (which has happened in all the games my brother played for the Fifa video game... but that's just a game. Right? Haha)

As always I'll be supporting a fellow home country of the British Isles, England, though I won't be supporting them to Win. I'm hoping the Dutch will do well personally but I'm not too confident that they will win =:0( From what I've seen there's alot of support for England this year I can't really remember to the last World Cup or even the European but I don't remember seeing this many English flags flying about, even in Wales hehehe

Well, I for one will not be supporting England. Heck, hardly ANYONE is supporting England up here is Scotland.

Most of us are supporting Trinidad & Tobago, mainly because 3 of their players are in Scottish football teams, and one of them has the surname Scotland :P So in a sense, Scotland really is at the World Cup!

And if England wins again, I will cry, because Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland won't stop hearing about it ever.

COME ON ROONEY! FALL DOWN THE STAIR!

To avoid Brazil you got hope Brazil either comes in the same place as USA or Brazil gets 3rd or 4rd in Brazil's group.

Remember if USA comes first in USA's group and Brazil comes second in Brazil's group then Brazil will face USA in the next round. (Brazil will also face USA if Brazil comes first in their group whilst USA comes second in USA's group)

England have the same problem with Germany as USA has with Brazil.

The Knockout part of the FIFA 2006 World Cup - Round of 16 onwards

The first part of the FIFA 2006 World Cup

Anyway I will be supporting my home country of England.

Supporting USA & England, although I won't pretend to know too much about it. My boyfriend is the one who got me into it, and after four years together I've picked up quite a bit!! I want to see Tim Howard get some action, he is my favorite player since he was on the Metrostars.

*waves little Australian flag* Aussie, Aussie, Aussie, Oi, Oi, Oi! and all that jazz. ;)

I don't really follow the cup but I'll cheer on my own country.

England have their best chance to win for a while, but I'll be very shocked if they make it through the quarter finals.

I reckon Brazil (they are favourites after all) for the win, maybe Argentina or Italy.

I'd love Portugal to win because I'm in a sweepstake and they're my team.

I'm rooting for the Ivory Coast, because that's the coolest name of any country in it.

Plus I'll root for the US just because it's the US.

GO IVORY USA COAST!

Germany has won their opener against Costa Rica.

I'm pulling for the USA, and I'd be rooting for wales if they were there.
