Day 2: Welcome back! I've got some news you may find interesting. Yesterday while straightening up I happened to find this book behind a dresser, which appears to be very, very old. I've only had time to flip through the first few pages so far, but it seems to have something to do with Krawk Island, so maybe it'll have some answers about what's been going on lately -- at least I hope it does!

Editorial:
Hi, TNT! A simple question: is "Krawk Island Disappearance" a plot or an event? The disappearance of Krawk Island is not a plot; it's just more of a transition, really.
It sounds like it is what I thought it would be - a redesign of Krawk Island. I was hoping for a full plot, but any site event is enough to keep me happy.
Day 3:
There you are! I've been waiting to tell you all day -- you're not going to believe this! According to that book I told you about last time, it turns out that rather than being one large island, Krawk Island was originally made up of many much smaller islets! I don't have time to get into the details now, but that'd certainly explain all the small islands everyone's been finding.

Day 4: Same text as Day 3
Day 5:
A new image has appeared at the Shanty:
and a new message appears when you find an Islet:
So, I'm sure you're dying to hear what I've learned since the other day... well, listen to this! According to that book I found, what we know is Krawk Island was a cluster of tiny islands, which had repeatedly been picked clean during a series of raids by the Dread Pirate Sherman, the meanest pirate Neopia had ever seen. For their safety, the islands' inhabitants decided to combine their land into one large, single island, which would be far easier to defend. How'd they do it? I'm still working on that part... until then, we should keep searching.
Back from another long day of searching for sunken treasure and the occasional islet, eh? Hehe, I'm just givin' you a li'l ribbing, that's all. You know, I like your determination and spirit. If I'm going to get Krawk Island back up and runnin', I'll need the help of those I can count on, such as yourself -- you look out for me and I'll see to it that you're well taken care of, you know, that sort of thing... kind of like how the island's founders banded together, if you think about it, right?

A good method is to go to the nine red Xs below. Each of the islands span 4 quadrants, and with this method, the clicks are spread out and you're almost guaranteed an island. It doesn't really matter where you start and where your last click is. I think this is the optimal way to get the most out of searching.

Day 7:
Welcome back! More news about the origins of Krawk Island has emerged -- it turns out the islands were brought together and anchored to the bottom of the ocean to keep from floating apart! Amazing, right? Over time, the island's drifting sands covered the inter-island borders and Krawk Island's history was forgotten... until now!
There you are! I figured you'd be turning up soon... you know, we're gettin' very close to tracking down all of the islets that I'll be needin' to put Krawk Island back together. With that, we'll have to start lookin' toward the future... now, I've been kickin' around the idea of becoming governor of Krawk Island, and the response I've been getting from my many -- and I mean many -- loyal friends is that it's a terrific idea, especially when they consider what it'll allow me to do for them, if you get my drift...
Secondly, I was wondering if anyone happened to have saved the page source from when the explore map was showing the image of Krawk Island surrounding by tentacles? I'm afraid I missed it and was hoping to get the map URL.
These are the lands that have been discovered so far. Why not take your <span class="gbcnst gbcnst00">Neopets</span> travelling? Good work: unfortunately, that's too early - I've been unable to find any archives of the explore page from 11 July - 20 July 2011 when the krawk island being attacked image was shown. I might e-mail TNT about it but I doubt they'll oblige me ^.^;;.

Day 8:Based on my research, if everything goes according to plan we should have the location of every islet needed to restore Krawk Island by the end of today. Once the last plot of land has been accounted for, the process of bringing back the islands and reconnecting them to the bottom of the ocean can begin. Isn't this exciting? I can't wait!
Good day, friend. At last, I have the great pleasure of telling you that all of the smaller islands that make up Krawk Island have been located, save a few. I suspect they will all be located by the end of today. Although this is quite an accomplishment, our work remains far from over. Given your unwavering support thus far, I trust you'll be returning tomorrow to help with the retrieval process. So long for now!

Part Two:
It's amazin' to think what I've accomplished in such a short time. Why, mere days ago, in the wake of nearly all of Krawk Island disappearin', I sent a ragtag fleet of pirates out in search of an island. Now, due in large part to the leadership of yours truly, a week or so later all the pieces of that island have been located, and the next step in a restoration process that will make the rebuildin' of Maraqua look like child's play can be movin' forward
Throughout this endeavour, one thing I've truly enjoyed is the subjuga--I mean, involvement, of "friends" such as yourself. During the next stage, in which the islets will be returned so that I may reconstitute Krawk Island, I take it that you'll be joinin' the retrieval effort. After all, only a fool would pass up the magnificent spoils awaiting those who stick it out 'til the end... and you're no fool, right?
You can now click: Join the retrieval effort.

The smaller islets that make up Krawk Island have been found. However, they need to be brought back in order for the island to be put back together. Click on the island you want to retrieve, then bring it back by successfully arranging your crew so that the ship stays balanced during the return voyage.
You currently have 1 islets that still need to be brought back.
Yay, individualized puzzles! I suppose someone might make a solver for it, but hopefully not. TNT implies they'll get harder as they go along, and I do like a good Number Place. For those who struggle with this type of puzzle, here's a walkthrough of Daze's puzzle above:
I'm going to use color-coding to label everyone: Y = yellow B = blue R = red M = (mud) brown
Look at the row, column, or color block that has the most spaces filled in. Let's start with the second column from the left.
Note that it needs R and Y, but you can see that the second row already has R, so that means the R must be in the top spot of column 2, and the second spot must be Y. You now have this: *R** *Y*R *M** *B*Y
Yay! One column down. Let's look at the fourth column now. M and B are missing, but you know M can't go in the third spot, so it must go in the top spot. That leaves B for the third spot. You now have this: *R*M *Y*R *M*B *B*Y
Now it gets a bit trickier. You have two blanks in every row, but no information from the columns to help. However, you do have some info from the color blocks. These blocks will become more important as the puzzles get bigger. Let's start in the top left block, the red block. You need M and B to complete that block. There's already an M in the top row, so it can't go in the top spot. Therefore, M is in the second spot and B is in the top spot. You now have this: BR*M MY*R *M*B *B*Y
You can now finish the green block, too, because only one is missing in each of the top two rows: BRYM MYBR *M*B *B*Y
Now on to the yellow block, which needs R and Y. Y can't go in the bottom spot, so you have: BRYM MYBR YM*B RB*Y
And now the finish is obvious: BRYM MYBR YMRB RBMY
Of course, it gets harder when the grid gets bigger. For a classic 9x9 grid (with 3x3 blocks), I like to go through the numbers (er, colors) in order. I'll look at the top 3 rows, knowing there has to be 1 in each block between the 3, and checking the columns to see what options are available for each block (for example: R has to be in the third column of the first block, and only the second and third rows are available to it... and hmm, same is true for the the second block -- that means that in the third block, R has to be in the top row, and that means it must be in the second column of that block!). Then I move on to the next group of three rows, and so on, then look at the columns in groups of three. Once I'm done, I move on to the next number (er, color), starting back at the beginning (knowing that I've added more info to the puzzle and might be able to place more).
If I get stuck, I'll look for blocks, rows, or columns that only have 1 or 2 blanks, and try to fill those in. If you're *still* stuck, you can copy the puzzle on paper and play "what if" on one of those squares (note what you started with; e.g., assume R is in the second spot of row 3). Then try to complete the puzzle. If you guessed right, you'll end up solving the whole thing. If you end up unable to place something, you know that R is not in the second spot of row 3, so you can try one of the other choices that work on that square (this works best when there are only 2 choices for that square). If you get stuck again, make another assumption, but copy the puzzle again (so you can go back if that assumption was wrong, and try the other possibilities that fall under "R in spot 2 of row 3").
Whew. Maybe that wasn't so helpful. There are plenty of free "Sudoku" puzzles on-line; I wouldn't recommend Roodoku because there are sometimes more than one correct solution, which isn't as good for practice.
And yay for new prizes! Time to make a new wishlist to make sure I get everything I want for my gallery while the prices are low.
Blue graffitied on my signature... But it made me laugh, so it's all good!
