If you're talking about the kind of debate I think you are, then my brother used to do this, so here are some tips I learned from him
Take notes on what they say so you can think of something to say back
Practice talking really fast (If you're doing that kind of debating)

I had back surgery a few years ago so there are some metal rods in my back. My mom called the doctor to see if they'll set off the metal detector, and his reply was "he didn't THINK so" So hopefully it won't.
Just in case, you should probably get a medical documentation with a doctor's signature ... |

Wear loose clothes like sweatpants and a teeshirt. Also, don't wear any metal.get hydrated before, during, and after the flight. When on the plane, when you can get up and walk around, do just that so you can stretched out.

Had so many famous people that went to it...for example:
The lead singer of dresden dolls had the same math teacher as I do
Rachel Dratch from Saturday Night Live had my math teacher too
The daughter of Tim Berners-Lee had a class with me last year, and her boyfriend is in my french class.

getting teeth pulled isn't bad, they numb you up and put you on laughing gas, and you feel pretty much half asleep. Afterwards it kinda hurts and you have to bite down on gauze where the teeth were to stop the bleeding.
