Sometimes, when I Roleplay as Erik, he'll sing instead of speak. In fact, I'm pretty sure me and my dream-construction partner invented Musical RP. Usually I'll just filk something from Phantom, and I look forward to the day I can just use My Friends from Sweeney Todd. But today, I wrote a song with no tune...

So here it is, with an introductory post for context. Posted on Furcadia inside Jisei's dream. ^^

Erik of Shadows falls to his knees, shrieking terribly like some tormented raptor. "You! You! YOU! Let us see, eh! Let us see how you appreciate it... where is your head? Aha!" No, Jisei was wrong. He is laughing, now. "And where is your face! You simply cannot go out like this, you are all red and too cold already! Aha, aha!" He seizes the wrists of a man only he can see. Jisei is no longer Roget, she merely provides fodder for his rage... "Come, come, come inside!" And with that, he begins to sing.

Come inside and you shall see
something that ought not to be...
see the devil, see his child,
feel your heart that thumps like wild...
Come and see, sir, only thirty sou --
now you shall see something new!

What is that inside the cage?
Where's the man on the little stage?
Where is the rod and where is the flask?
There is the man-- and there is the mask!

Yes there is the mask,

and there is the hand...

Come inside and you shall see a wonder!
Come inside and you shall see the terror of the age!
Come inside and you shall see
that which always, always had to be...

See the man upon the floor,
notice though what is gone:
The chains can't be found for they're not by the door,
and they're not in the cage
and they're not by the hitch--
there, by the switch, is a different bind, pale and pink and still warm...
glistening with rubies, shining with green, ropes with a livelier charm.

Come inside and you shall see that roles have been reversed.
Come inside and you shall see the siren's silent curse.
For there is the tent
and there is the place,
and there is the mask,
but where is the face?

Come inside, not a sou,
Come inside, see something new!
See and forget
what the devil has rent
for it costs not a cent
to see life gone misplaced --
for there is the mask, but where is the face?
