Rose and the White Bear (+ an overly-happy lupe)

Mon Dec 13, 2004 10:22 pm

I sure hope I'm posting this in the right place.. but this seemed more befitting here than in the Workshop, even though this is sort of a question..

I started drawing this late last night and got really stuck on the arms. I can't decide what I want her to be doing.. originally, she (Rose from the book East by Edith Pattou) was going to be dancing with the White Bear.. but I dunno, I'm having a hard time drawing her arms and I'm completely at a loss for drawing any of the bear.

So anyway, suggestions/constructive criticism are lovely things, and entirely welcome.

EDIT: Started drawing random stuff last night.. ended up with this:

I think it looks great! The bear is wonderful so far.
I'm not mch of a person to ask about arms...I'm of the opinion that they're best drawn as sticks XD

This looks great :)

I had a few thoughts in mind, I don't know if they even qualify as critique... just.. er, thought :P ALRIGHT, here we go: Firt of all I thought the bear looks more like a polarbear, because of the straight nose-line... then again you wrote white bear so I guess that does not matter :P My second thought was (this could actually count as some sort of critique) that you could work on te bodily proportions of the girl, the head is quite large compared to the body etc. If you meant for it to stay rather cartoonish it's really good though! :)

Oh, there's more! They both look a bit sad, as if they were to leave each other, so I myself would place the girl's hands so that they would seem to be grabbing the bear, as if she doesn't want to let go. Oh, so sad.. *cries*

Hmm.. You could have their hands touching palms maybe? Like ya know.. flat against eachother. Or if the bear has small paws.. then maybe have their hands locked together. Like they're doing the waltz or something? *shrugs*

It looks awesome s far though.. don't forget to post it when you're done :)

Agghlskdg, I had to restart my computer 'cause the resources were running low, so I totally lost the linework.. bleh. Oh well, I still have the sketch! I'm gonna have to convince my dad to let me buy oC one of these days.. lol.

Anyway, thanks everybody for the comments! I think I have the picture worked out in my mind, so we'll see how it goes from there XD

Woweee. Those are excellent! I really love the lupe. Prance, prance, prance. Frolic, frolic, frolic. And I agree the bear and the girl's hands should be flat against each other. :)
