o_O Random Curse of Maraqua pic

Sat Mar 26, 2005 1:39 pm

Considering the nil feedback I've gotten from it, I have a feeling this picture didnt turn out as nicely as I thought it did :/ Its too bad cause I spent quite a while on it too. Anyway, any comments + crit is nice. One thing I notice myself is that the uhm... aisha girl's hand is backwards >P;;

Chibizoo, to be honest, i am going to agree with nil feedback. I just dont like this as much as other pictures you have made.... I LOVE your art and i am a big fan of it, but I think there just might not be enough bright color or the mood of it isn't as joyful. Right now I am loving the Garin and Scarblade in your picture.... the coloring is simply amazing on garin's hair, and the shape of Scarblades face is way cool, and you did simply splendid with his pirate hat. Also, i think the most stunning part of the picture is maraqua itself.... the large orb-like figure looks BEAUTIFUL and has amazing coloring I say. I think its just little tiny details that might distract the eye, which is easy to do. A misplaced hand can totally ruin a picture... however, i dont think it detracts all that much from this picture. Some things I am noticing are things like the fact that Garin's eyes are kind of far apart, making him look a little wierd, but you did it for an obvious reason... you needed a spot for that big whoosh of hair. What you really needed to do was turn his head or just not worry if one of his eyes was covered up a bit, or make the "whoosh" of hair smaller.... its a challenging thing to mess with, a whoosh of hair is. Also, i know that the dark aisha is SUPPOSED to be gray, but she needs a little more color or something... it just distracts from the mood i think.... im not sure, but i think there needs to be less of a big blotch of grey and yucky colors on one fourth of the picture.... know what I mean? Anyway.... hows that for feed back? MANY things in the picture are great, but just a few tiny things can ruin a picture. Your picture is NOT ruined. I actually love it. There are just a few things that distract the eye, which everybody makes here and there. Anyway, I love the picture, and thankyou or sorry if you read all of this. :oops:

I'm going to kinda agree with TWW

I love the characters in this picture, but they really need to stand out more. I feel like they are lost in all the background. Sort of disagreeing with TWW, I think the coloring on the characters is just fine, the background is too colorful or should be different colors because the characters blend right into it.

The text distracts me too. It is too pixilated or something. It might be too bright as well. I feel like it contributes to hiding the characters.

Perhaps make this into two pictures. I don't know what you did to make this, but it might look good if you took them completely out of the background, enlarged them so there is a little more overlap between them, and did an airbrushing between them to smooth the transition. Make it look like a blend of 4 different images of the 4 characters. Then you could make a seperate image of the really awsome background you have and possibly add more detail and/or enlarge the text on it.

Having said all this, I want to emphasize that this is a phenomenal picture. I certainly don't have these talents. You just need to cut out some of the distracting elements and let the characters shine.

ah yes... i must also add... i just realized something that hyperbutterfly stated... that text is rather distracting.... it needs less glowing, i think. might i also add that i didnt even notice that maractite sword right away, but as of right now, im LOVING it... thats my favorite part of the whole picture. :D i love maractite!

Ahh.. good point about the background! I think the characters kinda got lost in the background (I tend to overdo my backgrounds a lot) and either should have thinned out the lines or even changed the lines to blend with the colouring o-o; The other thing I'd take note is to try and add a little effect to the characters. Its a bit hard on Adobe Illustrator: I did try to add to the characters but that's what made the entire background grey and the characters more pale than they should be. X3; Maybe Ill try and transplant the entire thing to Photoshop to see if I can retouch it.

Btw the font is pixelated because Photoshop is killing my fonts for some reason. That I cant fix at all x_x

Thanks for the awesome feedback guys!

You know about anti-aliasing right? I don't know where it is on your program, but turning it on or off can have a profound effect on pixalation of text. If it isn't that, I don't know what it could be.

Actually I never thought of that o_O! Good point - I'll go check it out!

I think I'm just going to scrap this picture (as in not bother with changing font since it just... didn't turn out well) but I'll keep it in mind for the next one. :3

I'm going to disagree with the rest of these people. Your art skills are WONDERFUL! I know I can't do that well (at least, not on a computer.) Keep up the good work! (Love the shading.)
