My this weeks contest entry featuring my newest neopet character, EndangeredBeauty:

I think he's adorable! It looks as if he stepped on a bug, and is looking down underneath his foot for some reason. O__O I love the wings, the anntenae and the tail. Usually I don't like Chombies, but this seems almost a combo between dragon and dinosaur, which is very interesting. :)

I guess she could have stepped on a bug.

The pencil sketch had a slight background composing of broken branches, tree stubs, debris, and a lone sapling that she is looking on as her only source of food for the day.

There is little life left in the forest, ever since it had been clear cut.

Alas lazyness on my end and my rush to get it in the contest, I decided to skip the background, leaving the viewer to their own concusion to what she may be doing. Plus I hate doing backgrounds.

I like it alot, especially the detail you put on the shading in the torso, very cool. The best thing about it is the wings though they just look like they fit perfect with the details and such yet again. A minor problem that seems to be bothering me is something on the head/face portion of the picture. It might be the eye than seems a little akward but other than that it's amazing!=D

This is awesome; the wings are amazing! I can't put any creative touches onto a Neopet, I don't think I can even draw anything but people. You rock!

I think may because I drew the eye really big for a small head and haven't spent as much time on the head as the rest of the body.

The wings and body are more impressive in the origional because I colored over some areas with irridecent colored pencils to get the grayed down tones and and some of the marks. The origional shimmers a little and a few more details are visible.

I think you need to clean up your scan a bit. If you did that, it could easily pop out the grey of the chomby.
The image is very grey-toned and it doesn't have a very professional look to it. The image itself isn't bad, but I didn't realise Chombys had wings.
I think the problem with the wings to me, is that they're butterfly wings, which... definately could not support the weight of a Chomby... I find it a bit... confusing that a sarupod based creature have butterfly wings. But that could just be me.
Still, nice image, I like the spikes on the tail.

Well the wings are part of the irony to it. Yes I was going to clean up the scan, but I ran out of time so yes it is unfinished. I take it that you don't like this picture as much as some of my other stuff. It is a fantasy creature so it does have some things that are unusual to it, that being it does have frail looking wings. It does fly a little by magic, but it isn't a good flyer :roflol:

Well anyways the BC results I'll post here because the topic I made in the billboard died:

TorturedButterfly:
3rd place with 334 votes, the most votes I've gotten to date

EndangeredBeauty: 239 votes (another amazing amount :))

It only got 5th place though. I think the avatar chatters and Kadatory feeders took it this week :(

But I think I'll work on the image more or make a new picture. The grayed-out effect is deliberate because the setting has little to no color. But I can try other medium than colored pencil and see where it takes me.

BTW just for amusment I neomailed the 1st place winner in chombys for her to share her secret. She wouldn't tell me, but it was fun to ask anyway. Maybe I'll post it on here screenies some time.

(I think having a lot of avatars and a private guild had something to do with it)

Congrats on the 3rd place and all those votes =) I really think your chomby should have been placed higher, you have a nice original style with your artwork that obviously takes a lot of time and effort - it's very fantasy/dreamy looking :) The chomby with her wings reminds me of Heimlich from A Bugs Life who's wings couldn't lift him off the ground: "Look at my vings!! I am a beautiful butterfly!" Totally irrelevant but it made me giggle, hee xD

Good luck with your next bc entries x)

I think I'll re-enter the chomby when I have a background done so don't dispair if you missed voting for it last week.

It should have won, but then there occasionally end up mysterious people who don't have to advertise to win and I think this week just got messed up when the dark nova avatar came out and avatar people started lending things to people while keeping their sig linking to their pets :x

But that is irrelevant to the purpose of this board. The avatar people, famious people, and battledomers are a part of the beauty contest and are the main rivals to artists like me. We just have to deal with them and try to get enough support people to out vote them ;)

Hopefully I can get my computer problems solved and have Tairrena in next week or the week afterwards.
