My Photography - Animals

Sun Apr 17, 2005 8:02 am

This is kind of a "learn as I go" process. I've been around photography my whole life, but I've never gotten around to taking any classes on it. My BF helped me build a small cheap studio in a spare room, and that's where I take many of my pictures.

Oh, and I have very patient furkids. :D

I love the one with the book.
The only jack russels i've known are the ones that don't stop moving, so i'm quite impressed.
Those photos are very gorgeous. Some of the best i've seen here.
Wow.

Very nice setup.

Wow, those are awesome. I like the book one and the cat in the Easter basket. (My cat would never stay in a basket willingly, even if it involved a prize with tuna.) Keep up the great work.

THey are very good, I especially like the last one. Do you take photos that aren't portraits?

Thank you for all the nice comments. :)

I do take other photos, but portraits are my favorite. My "studio" is a cheap imitation, that maybe cost $50 in total to build. I actually wrote out full instructions with pictures on another forum to show how I built it.

I have had one job offer, but I can't take anything until my back is fixed. So it's just a hobby for now, but mabye someday. :)

Jasmine does like to be her normal hyper self, but she thinks she's a doggy supermodel. Once she's in the studio, she'll hold completely still and pose for the pictures. And Meezer wasn't too thrilled about the basket....she jumped out at least 5 times, spraying plastic eggs everywhere LOL.

I"d honestly rather photograph pets than people...I seem to work better with animals. I have done some baby pictures for BF's sister, but I just didn't enjoy it as much.

Oh, and I'm happy to offer any advice/tips that I can. I'm by no means a professional, but I have picked up some things along the way. :)

Meezer Ming thinks she's a dog, is very mellow, and has given in to the fact that I'm going to take her picture. So, I just put her in the basket first, then gently held her while I put the eggs in. She did jump out the first few times, but then she realized what I was doing and held still for a bit.

Wow, those are simply adorable. I could absolutely never get my pets to sit still enough for pictures like those. The fact that you can even do that is impressive. ^_^

And I thought I was good. Nice work. One of my big hobbies is taking pictures of my animals. :)
