Drowning

A poem by moi.

i look around
drowning in my love for you
i’ve forgotten how to breathe
my vice, air, is now unknown to me
i swim toward the surface of this sea
an ocean of lies, lust, love
puddles of pain and joy
i can’t remember where to go
i need my vice now
but i’m too far in this aquatic nightmare
the water pulls me under
reminding me of us
wishing i could find your hand to save me
but you’ve swum back to your surface
you’ve left me to save yourself
i wish i were as strong as you
i try to scream in this mess
but nothing comes out
i cry in this plunge
and nobody can tell
you were my only hope so
i finally give up on air -
true love
