A Recolor

Tue Nov 01, 2005 5:05 am

Am I allowed to post this here, since I technically didn't draw it? O.o Anyway, being a recently converted FMA fan, I decided that it was time to give Ed and Al a little love on my otherwise Yoh-dominated wall (I'm serious, floor to ceiling). So, being a huge cheapskate, I decided to make my own poster. Since the image I wanted to use was so small, I had to blow it up, reline it, and then recolor it. I was really happy with how it turned out, so I saved a smaller copy.

I'm especially proud of the coat^^ Aru's head alone took me about 12 hours to color, and the whole thing was maybe....20 hours total? I tried out a new technique with the hair, and I also overlayed the lineart so it wouldn't stick out as much. I'm going for sort of a faux-realism thing.

But I'll stop talking now. Comments, anyone?

Wow! Looks great! I really love the way this is done, I think it actually improved the image. The hair, especially, is wonderful.

Hehee, FMA fan? I caught a couple of episodes on TV and now I'm starting to like it. I want to watch it from the beginning, but I can't. D:

Anywho, I love how you recolored it! All the colors look great and realistic. You have great shading, too. ^^

What program did you use? :]

How did you do that, Ammy? It's fantastic!

Photoshop Elements and a Wacom tablet. I actually did the lineart in PS 9, but I HATE coloring because everything's so hard to find. PSE really is the best for coloring stuff, it's quite accessible ^^ I love my tablet, too, 'cause the pen is pressure sensitive and WONDERFUL for airbrushing.
