Christmas presents for people!

Mon Dec 19, 2005 1:33 am

I have this huge tradition of making stuff for people for holidays and birthdays, etc., simply because I suck at shopping for people. What with my recent intrest in poster making, and my recent discovery of how to do it, I decided on two homemade gifts for my mom and my best friend, the lovely Miss S-chan who I WILL get to join PPT someday. The pictures have been resized by about half because the originals are ginormous.

This one is for my mom. It's based off a drawing I did ages ago while listening to the song Gessekai by Buck-Tick for 8 solid hours, hence the title. She's been trying to steal it from me practially since I drew it, so I decided to make her a nice wall-sized version. This was drawn in Photoshop because I was too lazy to scan the original, and it's mostly straight lines anyway. (The window with the light on is my room ;) )

Fortunately I was able to scan this before my sketchbook evaporated, because drawing it over again would be...not fun. It's for S-chan, as you might logically have assumed, because she (shockingly) doesn't have nearly enough Ren-themed stuff on her wall. I've been dying to do him in a more realistic style for ages, but since I'm awful at realism I based it off of Lain. Very happy with how it turned out in the end, though^^ The text comes from Ryuuro, one of Ren's theme songs, which was my first anime mp3, my first Shaman King song, and (by odd coincidence) my first Paku Romi song.

Oh, and here's the pencil version which I like slightly more, mainly because it didn't crash twice and ultimately take me 10 hours to finish: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v31/l ... ghtful.jpg

....Hey, while I'm thinking about it, I'd be happy to do a few of these for anyone who wants one. I've got some more examples that I could pull up, so PM me if you're interested and we'll talk :)

Wow, those look fantastic Amethyst. I also prefer the pencil-version of the Ren picture. I'm not really sure why, it just draws me in a bit more (no pun intended...or was it)

Aww, that's really neat of you to make homemade gifts. ^^

I like both gifts. I don't really like Ren's fingers though. :3

Hehe, I like the room that was lit in your first picture. ^^ Nice little detail.

It's really sweet of you to make gifts for your mom and friend. :)

The first one's beautiful. I love the way the buildings look all peaceful and marble-y. The light's a nice touch, too.

I like the pencil version of the Ren picture as well. The shading's a little more to my taste in that one, but they're both gorgeous. I especially adore the way you did the folds in his shirt.
