Someone may possibly remember that a while ago I put up a picture of a group of lesser tree dragons - they were cute, but not much more. Well, I've redone one of them in a completely different style! Tell me what you think?

Edit: The male has been added. He's the colourful one. Although hiding wouldn't be too hard, as long as he kept absolutely still and with his stomach towards the trunk.

Inrun Edit: Please stack your images rather then post them one beside each other. Otherwise the page stretches and things get ugly.

I'm not good at crits but I just wanted to comment and say how gorgeous that picture looks ^^ The dragon looks like it is made of tree and the long strokes made it look very natural. And the dragons eye is wonderful.

Seriously, if you had prints of this picture I'd buy one to frame in a second :)

That is absolutely awesome. I do have a crit, though.

On the wings, they're white on that side. Personally, I think you shouldn't portray them as whitish, because if the creature were real, wouldn't the pale white side of the wing be on the opposite of the wing? If it doesn't make sense, think about a kitten for example. If you look at it from the back, the ears are colored exactly the same as the rest of the cat. But if you look at it from the front, you see the paleish color like you have for the wings inside the ears. I would assume the same works for rings.

I understand that makes pretty much no sense. But it's a lovely picture regardless. :)

i remember your tree tragons! I loved them! And I love it now... theres only one thing that's a little wierd to the eye... they arent supposed to be hairy, are they? I tried using this type of style... and the streaks of color look elegant, but it also looks like hair... and it makes the tree look a little hairy too... kind of like its clinging to a dog or furry surface... now, dont get me wrong,s its very beautiful looking.. the colors are very well blended... it just looks like hair! One thing that I REALLY like is really simple, but its one of those things i call "eye candy..." that.. you just like to look at because its interesting to the eye. And that IS the eye of the lizard. Its simple, but looks very cool... and shiny.. and.... awesome. Its a perfect little-animal eyeball... that gives it an innocent, yet creepy look to it. Anyway, it all still looks cool, but might be the wrong style of coloring for the result you are looking for... I REALLY liked your last tree lizards!

Thanks everyone! ^^

Bangel: Alright... the skin of the the wings is just that... leathery skin. Unlike on a cat, where there's fur on the other side, these are plain ol' skin, with no fur covering. Think more of a bat than a cat.

TWW: Hehe, I know in the first one they were leathery-skinned, but I wanted to try something different, so these are furred. It's mostly because the Draconis Aborea (minor) have lived in the trees for so long that they've become more and more squirrel-like, including their teeth and the growing of fur to keep them warm in winters. The only thing they've kept is the leathery underside and the wings, which have shrunk to make them incapable of flying.

Yay, comments. ^^ I'll have the male up in a few hours, I hope. He's harder because of his markings. He's a lot brighter though.

It's beautiful, Ledi. I can't really find anything to critique, not even something little. ^_^ I'm looking forward to seeing the male version.

Male...not as good. Still amazing, of course, but not as good. I like the colourfulness, it's all...yum. At first I gelt the wings/underside were a bit bright, unrealistic, but after looking at it for a while and comparing withthe background, I think it works quite well.

I think the male is beautiful as well. However, his body position seems just a little awkward to me. I'm not sure how to describe it, but the bend in his body where he would become climbing down onto the limb doesn't seem to be in quite the right place or something. I'm sorry, I really can't think of how to describe it properly. But aside from that, I think he's gorgeous.

Hehe... He's streeeeeetching. I took the pose mostly from one of my cats doing just about the same thing... geez, unless you've owned one yourself you have no idea just how far those things can stretch. They're like accordions, I swear.

I wasn't quite as happy with the male, but by the time I'd finished it I was so tired that I just decided to leave it as is and go back to bed.
