Katrina who was sitting a bit away from the actual group started counting fingers.

"One... five, seven...eleven...wait, what the...?" she mumbled to herself.

Lance had said twelve, and reality started hitting Katrina. Hey, no way, I didn't join this one to DIE, she thought to herself, having her cheeks get a bit red. Trying to calm herself down a bit Katrina took a few deep breaths and got up from the canapé.

"Lance, darling, see you later, you know I never spend my nights here anyway," she said with her honey voice, avoiding eye contact with Lance and exiting the foyer the same way she had entered it.

As Katrina got out to the pitch black street she gasped for air clinging to the tavern wall. The echo of her high heels hitting the pavement echoed down the street as she rushed forward, seeming to have a destination at mind already.

Rounding the corner Katrina slipped silently into a small bar, walking confidently to the bar disk and sitting down next to a couple of others, people, with one of them seeming to be just a bit younger than Katrina. What ever happened to age limits, she asked herself as she placed her small purse onto the table in front of her.

"Adner, give me the strongest that you've got, I need it," Katrina said to the bartender.

((Oh Dranzeeeeer.... :D))

Lance, trying to ignore the loud screechings from Grace, said to Ally, 'If Elouai comes back tonight, then she may join if she wishes. If she does not come back, then the chances of meeting her along your way tomorrow are slim, but she may also join you.'

Grace's screams were quick to give him a small headache in a matter of seconds, and he could vaguely hear a girl's voice murmuring as she exited. He blinked, as the message got maybe halfway through in his brain, and then he dismissed the matter over the pounding inside his head, also somewhat appeased by the "Lance, darling," in the sexy tone.

(Just cause of that, I'm making Adner freelance.)

"I'll consider it," she said, stiffening up. More company... "You heard her Adner, sne dher some of that imported Sake." she added to the bartender. Turning around, she explained. "It's one of the best imports he's got here, that Sake. Could wake a bear up from hibernation."

Nodding, Adner slid the bottle of to her western-bartender style. "Pleasure doing business," he said, grinning broadly.

Steven and Alice exchanged mixed looks. Alice had a weary, reluctant expression on her face, whereas Steven was looking rather normal about it, and even hinted a tiny trail of confidence and delight. Steven always got a kick out of killing things, very much unlike Alice. Alice lowered her gaze to the ground and exhaled. She felt Steven's hand take hers. The gauntlet wrapping his left hand felt cool and smooth.

((Hehe, good idea, I don't want to put any extra pressure on you Dranzer :)))

Turning her head to look at the girl who spoke to her Katrina made a silent motion with her hand, stopping the bottle that glided to her. Reaching into her purse she dug up a few coins and placed them on the counter in front of her.

"Thank you, and that should do it," Katrina said, now almost seeming a bit tired.

"Oh I am so dead..." she murmured herself while pouring the sake into a small glass and taking a sip.

Not bad, she thought, this ought to keep my mood up for a while at least.

Barely catching that phrase, Sarena asked, "Hm? What did you say?" to Katrina. Maybe another member perhaps? Glancing back at Elouai, she began to wonder if the two knew each other.

While drinking her sake Katrina sighed.

"I was merely complaining about the situation I have gotten myself into," she replied shortly turning her head to look at the other people in the bar.

At this hour it was very empty, only of the few regulars were still left, drinking, socializing, playing cards and smoking. Sighing yet again Katrina wished that she wouldn't be an Akute, that she could be like normal people and not such an outcast as she felt like.

Sarena tried once more to strike up conversation, the whiskey in her starting to make her a bit giddish.

"And what mess would that be?" she inquired.

(Stop shooting her down! :P )

Elouai looked over at Katerina. "Hello, Katerina," she said quietly. "May I introduce Sarena..." She paused, wondering what Sarena was going to say about her offer.

((*mwahahaha* Feel the evilness! ... ahem... nevermind.))

Katrina looked at the girl once more, frowning a bit.

"Well aren't you the curious one," she commented, "what's it to you? I don't even know who you are!" Katrina continued staring at the girl.

Suddenly the girl a bit further away spoke, introducing the other one to Katrina. Dumbstruck by that the girl actually knew her made Katrina glance at the sake bottle suspiciously.

"It's Katrina, mind you, and who the heck are y..." she started to reply as suddenly she felt that there was something familiar with the face.

"Wait a minute, you're.. I know you, E something," she said being a bit surprised.

With a sigh Katrina crossed her legs and looked straight forward.

"I joined them just a while ago and they already know me better than I know myself," she said to herself.

Eirynn glared slightly at the direction Katrina had left in. She really didn't like her that much, even though they were rather the same. Both beautiful, but Eirynn thought her beauty a hindrance, while Katrina though it a help, this difference made Eirynn feel slighty uncomfortable in her presence. She looked around at the now, large group, thinking about their task. She looked at Lance, wondering if he was sentancing their death- or if they were really saving people. Her expression cleared, grudges were hardly the norm for Eirynn, and she smiled slightly, excited and ready to kill.

"It's Sarena, and I thought all of you knew each other, being Akute. I suppose I was wrong." Shrugging, Sarena got off her seat and started towards the door, getting pretty bored of this conversation.

"So you're not going to help us?" This voice came from Elouai. She couldn't believe that one of her requests was being turned down. She looked over at the beautiful woman beside her, Katrina. She crossed her own slim legs and shrugged.

"All right then," she said. "I might see you around."

(She did say she'll consider it you know.)

Nodding, Sarena opened the door. "See you around."

[I know she did. :P]

Elouai waited for Sarena to leave, looked over once more at Katrina, and then stood. She checked the time. She nodded curtly to Katrina and said, "I'd best be going. I was meant to meet my brother at nine. I'll see you."

She turned and left the tavern, taking the opposite path to Sarena and heading for the Akute headquarters. Once at the front, she went inside and arrived in the foyer, looking mildly surprised that almost all of the most competent Akute were here. Now Elouai was here, it was almost complete.

Ally turned and saw Elouai come through the door. He strode up to her. "El!" he exclaimed, and gave his sister a one-armed hug.

"Ally," Elouai said softly. "Sorry I'm a bit late... I went to have a drink. There are demons flooding the city. I don't know how we're going to stop them."

Ally said immediately afterward, "Lance has assigned us to hunt down the demons and find where they're replenishing their energy. If we find this, we can destroy them. He said that you're welcome to join us."

Elouai nodded. "Yes, I think I will." Elouai had thought it would get rather dull on the assignment front now she had finished her last one, but here was a fresh opportunity. She wouldn't miss it for the world. "When do we start?
