Three hundred years ago, a group of "mutants" was left on a deserted island, where they formed a colony. For next three centuries, they built colonies, and developed their own intricate religions and systems of government, based off of the fragments of the rest of the world.

They weren't mutants. They were mages. Regular humans, tapping into an infinite power source. But now, some of the islanders have forgotten magic for the sword. And war has now begun...

RANDOM INFO

Mages first appeared in the world as a result of very specific, but accidental, interbreeding in the human race. Several genes, in a particular combination, allowed humans to tap into a power long lost. Most of the time, because of the genes involved, mages reproduce mages, and warriors reproduce warriors. Occasionally carriers of both genes will be born, who can reproduce either offspring.

Alignment (Mage or Warrior):

Mage Specific:
Color (Black, White, Red, or Blue):

OTHER STUFF

Keep weaponry and magic type realistic: a Berserker wouldn't be using hand-to-hand combat, for instance, and you're not gonna see a White Mage casting Dark magic. The knight and the red mage are both skilled in nearly any weapon.

Feel free to make up any class you want, so if you want something not listed here, it doesn't matter. Sometimes abilities clash among classes, for instance, Red Mages can use most weapons, and Black Mages can be archers.

Name: Jeroyva
Gender: Male
Age: 15
Description: a thief by trade, Jeroyva is an orphan who has been working as a spy for the Warrior Nation. He knows his way around the island very well, and plays his part very convincingly- no one other than his commanders realize he's even fighting.
Alignment (Mage or Warrior): Warrior
Class (Fighter, Berserker, Thief, Knight): Thief
Weapon(s) used (Axe, Sword, Lance, Bow, Knife, Hand-to-hand): Knife, (a small dagger), and hand-to-hand.

Jeroyva stared at the building. Inside that building was a mage. That mage had information. The mage would probably have to die. He couldn't kill the mage immediately; this mage was studying the art of Geomancy. Obviously, he wouldn't have the advantage fighting here. He would either have to have sniper-like speed, or choose the terrain. He would have to lure the mage to another place. Preferably, some place with very soft ground, and a total lack of hills or water.

Exactly the kind of place a thief shouldn't be fighting.

Name: Hikaru (Nakamiya)<- last name
Gender:Female
Age:15
Description:A small girl with black hair down to her shoulders. She loves having fun and making friends and hates wars and enviromental polution. She attempted to help stop the war and stay well away, but found herself in the middle of it. The fact that she cannot kill anyone and often uses her healing skills for the injured, whether warrior or mage, causes trouble for her at times, but has also made her some trusty friends.
Alignment : Mage
Color: Red
Element(s) used: Fire, Light (and at times a random element. She's still learning to control it properly --->EDITish. Anyone can use this as an advantage for themselves, but only if she's really mad, upset, or hasn't used any magic for a while)

Hikaru watched the boy staring at a building. She wondered if he was one of those people who were trying to kill someone else.

She sighed. The thief, (it must be, she thought. He definitely isn't a mage, and he didn't have the usual big weapons for berserkers and knights. Well maybe he is a fighter, she admitted to herself.) if he was smart enough, would probably lure the mage somewhere else. Or try. Hikaru thought of the many people who tried that before. If he was smarter, he wouldn't. Ground is everywhere, but cover that is important for thieves is not.

She walked down toward the building, and toward the boy, stopped, then turned the other way again, and started walking around the thief in a big circle.
She had almost gone and talked to him! It would have been fine if he was one of the citizens who tryed to stay out of the war. What if he was a warrior and killed her at first sight because she was a mage?
Then realising how stupid it was to try to avoid him as there was only a ten percent chance he hadn't seen her, she took a deep breath and walked toward him once again.

Jeroyva first noticed the girl as she walked around him. Odd. Why was she doing that? There were only a few options: convince her that it was okay to kill a fellow mage, kill her first and then kill the important mage, extract the information from the mage using torture and not death only to kill him at a later date when the girl wasn't watching, or approach the girl and hope that his commanders didn't notice him not completing his mission. He was a thief, though. He could probably convince anyone, including this girl right now, that the mage was dead, and his house was in ruins.

Unfortunately for him, only one option seemed viable: the option in which he spoke to the young mage. "Hello?" he called out, and before she had enough time to answer, he said, "I've heard both mages and humans alike can master Geomancy, because it isn't a proper magic, but rather a series of spells which use natural spell components: or, in other words, the only non-genetical magic available on this island."

He spoke quickly, of course, and didn't think twice about using words his peers might not be fimiliar with. Words were the only magic he was interested in.

"Hello." Hikaru said, smiling a little, when he finished. What is he trying to do, she wondered. Random talk? Very likely.
She shrugged. "Aren't mages humans as well? From the books on the island's history, we were all originally thought as so called mutants and moved here, no? Pretty much the same type of creature." When it came to talk, she never lost to anyone, although she was bad with words. "I've never studied geomancy." she added.

Hikaru tensed up slightly. She hadn't meant to, but something was telling her to be careful. Carefully, she let herself relax, but was ready now for whatever might happen. Or she hoped so.

"Err... I mean like, mages versus regular humans. If the legends are true, our first home wasn't really a magical place. So, I guess the biggest group is, you know, normal." Jeroyva attempted to maintain his composion, but it seemed this girl didn't trust him. Odd, since he really hadn't done anything to draw attention.

"I was thinking, since this guy's one of the few people who knows geomancy, I could get him to teach the basics to me. Unfortunately, he's one of very few people who know it, so..." his voice wandered off, dissapointed. "Do you think he'll listen to me? I'm afraid he won't trust me. Lots of people have tried to get his teaching, and he won't because they might use it for the war. I just want to be less dependant on my people, to be free of the war."

Hikaru shrugged again.
"You think strange." she stated, although she knew she usually thought that way. "You know we have almost no connection to the outer world. There could be no other living creatures for all we know."
She glanced toward the house.
"Oh, the professer? Yes, I think he would, only he has this funny knack of knowing exactly who is trying to use knowledge for the war." Some people may have said her look was suspicious.
"Lot's of mages and warriors alike asked for his help, as I guess you know." Hikaru continued. "They were all turned away as far as I know."

Quickly, she made an invisible string of light and curled it around the boy's arm.
"If you really want to find out, I guess you'll have to go in. Come on." She beckoned, and opened the door. "Professer? There's a...boy here who apparently wants to see you!"

[[Err... I don't know? I assume not...]]

"Eh, Profeesor, hi. Sorry I don't know your name; I only heard that you know geomancy. Is that true?" Jeroyva looked at the man as if to say, What are you talking about? I have no evil plan.
"And why, child, do you wish to know that?" The professor looked up and down at Jeroyva, as if to say, Ha! You think you can fool me into believing you? He trusted Jeroyva; that was his policy. But if he needed to, he could quickly stop trusting him.
"I wondered if perhaps you would teach me some of the basics. My mother, she was kiiled by a soldier, and I'm... I'm frustrated. I don't want to be near this war any longer. Perhaps I could even get off the island, someday, and go look for the outside world. Maybe someone out there could bring peace, so no one's mother wolud have to die ever again."

<<My image was a man in his late fifties. Dunno, is your character fifty? ;)

I might change things a little, if you don't like it change it back please....>>

The professer looked rather thoughtful. Hikaru watched the two, wondering if this boy would be another of his students.
The story the boy told itself left Hikaru feeling sad, but still, something stopped her from completely trusting him. This she was glad for, because she knew her cautiousness wouldn't hold all that long. She was too trusting.

"What's your name, young man?" He questioned. "And what would you use geomancy for?" He gestured to a small picnic table under a big tree next to his house. Murmering to Hikaru to make some tea as he passed her, he headed to one of the chairs and sat down, taking a deep breath. "Ah. Much better than the air inside."

Hikaru stayed long enough to hear Jeroyva's reply before hurrying into the house, and disappeared for a while, returning with some tea filled glasses and a pitcher.

She placed the tray on the table carefully, and sat down, hoping that this wouldn't turn out too bad.
I mean, the day before yesterday, that silly arch mage, or whatever he calls himself, had a tantrum and started throwing balls of darkness everywhere, she thought. And the week before, some knight went off and broke all the cups just to show off. Really.

Jeroyva blinked. "My name is Jeroyva. I'm a thief by trade, but most of that is just disabling people who try to attack me. Magus Vannu, he's a commander for the mages, he tried to kill me. He's... he's a bit paranoid. I guess it's the whole thief thing, you know? Everyone thinks I'm going to rob them then sell their body parts or something to a mage... but last I checked, we stopped using body parts nearly fifty years ago."

The professor looked at Jeroyva, wondering what he was thinking. He seemed trustworthy enough, but he was a thief. "How do I know you're not feeding me lies?" he asked, trying to catch Jeroyva off guard.

"You think I'm lying? I don't lie. If you really don't believe me, I can show you my mother's grave, and I can show you the weapons I destroyed so they couldn't be used to kill. I would never kill someone. I only want geomancy because of the oppurtunities. It's versatile. Forging metal leads to metal boats. And that leads to the outside world, where the warriors and mages aren't at war."

There was a pause.
"Very well." The professer said finally.
That was where the professer was different from Hikaru. She trusted people almost always, but it usually took a little time. The professer could trust anyone at any time but could always stop trusting as well.

"But first, let's deal with that." He pointed to the figure walking down the path <<street>> It seemed to be a warrior, and from the way he held himself up he must be someone important.
Hikaru watched Jeroyva's face carefully. Why couldn't she trust this boy? It was strange and unlike her.
Then she remembered the look in the boy's eyes when she had first seen him. So that's why.
