The Subtext King/Queen (Alternate judges needed!!!)

Sat Sep 04, 2004 10:02 pm

The one thing I hear too often on this forum is, "I'm no good at subtexts", which makes a point that subtexts are very hard to make. So, I came up with an idea for a little contest to find out who, in all of PPT, really is the The Subtext King/Queen.

How does it work?

Every few days, I'll give you a plain signature with no subtext. It's your job to make up what you think would be a good subtext for the graphic. Then, our panel of judges will tell us who deserves to move on and who deserves to get going. At the end of it all, when there are just two contestants left, the judges will PM me with who they think has done the best throughout the competition, and the person with the majority of votes is going to be crowned the Subtext King or Queen.

What are the rules?

1. You are not allowed to steal quotes from others. The subtexts you enter MUST be completely and 100% your own.

2. If you miss out on one part of the competition without a valid excuse, you recieve one strike against you in the game. Two strikes, and you're out.

3. When all the spaces are filled, don't ask me to get in. I will ignore you.

4. This thread is for the competition only. Not to discuss a shaved cat you saw or how Ashley's hair doesn't match her shoes. Keep things on topic.

5. I have the right to remove any judge or contestant when I feel the need to. Ex- a contestant uses quotes that were not made up by them; a judge never has their ratings in on time.

I want one of my own subtext-less graphics in the competition. Can I submit one to be used?

If you'd like to donate a subtext-less graphic to the competition in order to help you think up a subtext for it or you just want to be a part of the contest, please send me a PM. You will be credited. However, if you want to use one of the subtexts thought up for it, you must ask the creator of the subtext in a PM. The rules for this: Signatures must be appropriate for PPT, they may not include people- not everyone here knows who every celebrity is, and they must be a bit complex to make things difficult.

How many are allowed in? Can I participate and not be a contestant?

First answer: 10. Second answer: Yes.

Contestants: I will be accepting ten competitors this time. If this contest is successful and I make a second round, maybe I will allow more that time. But for now, only ten. All you need to do to get in is to post. PMing is also fine, as well if you wish.

Judges: If you would like to judge, please send me a PM saying why you want to be a judge. If you post asking to be a judge, I will ignore you. I will allow three judges. I will give you about forty-eight hours to apply for a judging posistion (the time starting at the time of this post).

Dull stuff that doesn't matter to the competition that I want you to read anyway: If you have read all of this post, please include the words 'chocolate brownie' somewhere in your post. If you are applying to be a judge, put the same words in your application PM.

One other way to participate without being a contestant: I am allowing people to send in subtext-less graphics to be used in the competition. If you would like to submit a signature, please sent it to me via pm and read the above section about submissions. There will be rewards for these graphics.

What does the winner get?

The winner will recieve a prize, which will be revealed at the end of the competition. *sneaky eyes*

Anyway, thank you for reading and post if you have any questions or wish to join the competition.

Due to lack of interest, I selected the judges today. Sorry to all who didn't make the cut- you will all be substitues in the occasion a judge cannot participate in any of the rounds. :) And I would really love it if you all signed up to be contestants. :)

I'll guess I'll be a contestant. So, basically what you do is you put up a signature, and we have to think of a subtext? That sounds simple enough... I think.

Yep, that's all you need to do. :)

Mon Sep 06, 2004 12:36 pm

Oooh i'll be a contestant!

Do the quotes have to be put on the sets, or are we just typing them in here? I have no set making skills and wanted to make sure I wouldn't need any. If they aren't needed...

...I'd like to join as well.

Mmm... chocolate brownies

You're just typing them here- no set making skills are needed. :)

Yes... chocolate brownies are delicious, aren't they? Too bad most people I've talked to don't like them... *Grabs all the contestants besides Ammer and Kugestsu and shoves them towards the 'Dull stuff that doesn't involve the competition that I want you to read anyway' section* :P
