Good question. I have been watching from afar and wondering the same thing.

Why do we have to give a link to the pic we use ?

Because than the judges can see how hard you worked to make your set and you wouldn't be able to just paste a picture in a frame and write a your name on it, well you could, but you would be out pretty fast.

So we can see what you've done to it (effects, recoloring, picture reconstruction, etc.). It's easy to take a picture with a nice existing background and just crop it to size, and add text and a border (I do it all the time), but it takes more intuition to create a new background and add effects.

I thought so =).

That could kinda be ripping in some cases....

Alright. I gave it a shot. I think I went a little hard with the border cutouts.
