For those topics one could describe as the forum equivalent of a twinkie. Word games, forum contests and giveaways are all the rage here.

I'm confused now... I thought (-1)-1 = -2?? *sweatdrop*
It is, I assume Tested thought it would be,
(-1)-1 = 2
1 + 1 = 2
Which is incorrect as it would be,
-1 + -1 = -2
To make -1 a postive, the negative would have to be before the bracket, not after.

So then... I'm confusing myself. Are they both solutions?
And by the way, I'm in 9th, so you shouldn't be confused
However, 1-(-1) does = 2.

I think the only solutions to the problem are if
X = -10 and Y = 0
or
Y = -10 and X = 0. I THINK. *is very bad at math even though he likes it*
*is very confused about how things could turn out so weird*

I haven't checked, but since YX=0, and +100 is on the right side of the problem, that... most likely doesn't work.
By the way, my answer and o_0's answer are both technically correct, but technically the left side will equal infinity and the right side will equal infinity+100.
By the way (again), since
(-1-1)(-1-1)=(1+1)(1+1)
, because a negative times a negative equals a positive,
(-x-10)(-y-10)=(x+10)(y+10).
It's amazing how basic the algebra required to solve this is.
Dangit! Now we have to eat just PBJ for the week because one person failed his game task.

It works

.
X = -10, Y = 0
XY=XY+X10+Y10+100
0 = 0 - 100 + 0 + 100
0 = 0
X = 0, Y = -10
XY=XY+X10+Y10+100
0 = 0 + 0 - 100 + 100
0 = 0

Oh! cool.
So that's 4 solutions. Fun.
But technically, it's like 2 identical pairs.
funfun.

We should really find more random topics to talk about more often

Wonderful, math just follows me straight from school to Big Brother.
Math is teh evil.

I was confused just watching all of that.

eww math :P Thankfully I only have one term of math at school left...then no taking math ever again!

Get the math out of here!

Sorry about not posting at 1:00, my dad was on the computer for the longest time so I'll be posting the nomination ceremony now.

"Everyone, please go to the nomination table, it's time for me to reveal my nominations," said Bangel as she ran up to her HOH room to the marble block.
---
Bangel walked down the stairs and in her grip was the marble block containing 12 keys. She set it down on the small, round platform located in the middle of the large round table. All the houseguest's were assembled around it.
"This is the nomination ceremony. It's that time again, sadly. As the new HOH, I'm required to make a choice between all of you fine people, and put two of you up for eviction. The choices in nominees were not many for me. I didn't want to put up Wind, because of what she had to go through in the last eviction. I didn't want to put up Tested either, because he did a great deed in helping in the hurricane, and he also had to put up with Kidwaiy going insult-fest on him. o_0 wasn't a choice to me, either, considering he was also in the mess, and recieved most of the insults from Kidwaiy, so without furthur ado, the first one safe is, Tested,"
Tested nodded his head and Bangel spun the small table which the block was on towards him. Tested picked up his key and hung it around his neck.
"o_0, you are safe," he said as he drew o_0's key from the block.
o_0 nodded his head and Tested spun the small table which the block was on towards him. o_0 picked up his key and hung it around his neck.
"Wind, you are safe," he said as he drew Wind's key from the block.
Wind nodded her head and o_0 spun the small table which the block was on towards her. Wind picked up her key and hung it around her neck.
"Matterbug, you are safe," she said as she drew Matterbug's key from the block.
Matterbug nodded his head and Wind spun the small table which the block was on towards him. Matterbug picked up his key and hung it around his neck.
".:Requiem:., you are safe," he said as he drew .:Requiem:.'s key from the block.
.:Requiem:. nodded her head and Matterbug spun the small table which the block was on towards her. .:Requiem:. picked up her key and hung it around her neck.
"Monique, you are safe," she said as she drew Monique's key from the block.
Monique nodded her head and .:Requiem:. spun the small table which the block was on towards her. Monique picked up her key and hung it around her neck.
"Stephanie, you are safe," she said as she drew Stephanie's key from the block.
Stephanie nodded her head and Monique spun the small table which the block was on towards her. Stephanie picked up her key and hung it around her neck.
"Nikita, you are safe," she said as she drew Nikita's key from the block.
Nikita nodded her head and Stephanie spun the small table which the block was on towards her. Nikita picked up her key and hung it around her neck.
"Jamie, you are safe," she said as she drew Jamie's key from the block.
Jamie nodded his head and Nikita spun the small table which the block was on towards him. Jamie picked up his key and hung it around his neck.
"Robert, you are safe," he said as he drew Roberts's key from the block.
Robert nodded his head and Jamie spun the small table which the block was on towards him. Robert picked up his key and hung it around his neck.
"Kugetsu, you are safe," he said as he drew Kugetsu's key from the block.
Kugestu nodded his head and Robert spun the small table which the block was on towards her. Kugetsu picked up his key and hung it around his neck.
The only two houseguest's left without a key were Divine and ArwenEarendil.
"My first choice of nominees was the only one that was even a bit easy. The first person I chose to put up was ArwenEarendil. I chose her because from what I see, she is the least active in the competition. I don't dislike anyone here enough to nominate them, so I had to find some reason for nomination, and I chose activity. Arwen, this is nothing against you, I promise. I just didn't have much else to choose from. The second nominee was the hardest choice of all, as all I had left were a lot of friends, and a few friendly aquaintences. So I brought out the randomizer and all signs pointed to Divine. I'm so sorry to you as well, Divine, and again, it's nothing personal. To the rest of you- you're safe for now. You can do the hug thing you do after... basically every event,"
The rest of the houseguest's stood up from the table and began to hug one another. ArwenEarendil and Divine had to win the Power of Veto to take themselves off the block, will they win it? And if they do, will they use it on themselves?
Sat Oct 01, 2005 6:10 pm
*hugs Dawn* Thank you
*hugs Divine and Arwen* Aww, good luck in the Power of Veto!
Sat Oct 01, 2005 6:21 pm
Thanks Dawn for not putting me up.
I'm really sorry to Divine and Arwen.

That's the stinky part of the game.
*hugs*
