I believe she was talking about "Guiding Light". It plays on CBS.

What? My mom's a soap addict, OK?

Quit reading my mind, Liz.

Isnt this contest desgined to see who can give the best subtext? If you ask me... who cares if a subtext is "expect" or not - it should be judged on which ones fit the image the best. :)

Twinkle ish correct. Expected does NOT = originality

So being on early... and thus using the subtext that was reqiums idea s well instead of reqium using theirs and forcing me to be creatives is comming back to haunt me. The iorny of it all :roflol:

I love irony, personally. :roflol:

*hug* I still think it's a good subtext. Some of the best are predictable.

Will give the other judges another day...

Loser1921 // I like it, it really connects with the kind of "glow" in the picture and the whole point of lighthouses. Great job!

Watericesage // Kind of expected, but I like it anyways. Good job.

Kurisutaru // Another expected one... I don't think it's very creative, you could have done better.

Qanda // I like it, lovely word choice and goes with the signature. Excellent job!

Sirclucky // Meh. It's okay, but like Twinkle said, we judge not only on how it fits on the signature but on creativity as well.

.:Requiem:. // I don't really like it much, I think since the light of the lighthouse is a big part of the image, putting something in your subtext that connects with that would make it better.

Eliminate: Kurisutaru, .:Requiem:. and Sirclucky

((*Pssst* DM, I said choose 3 people to eliminate, not 2 ;)))

Judges Notes: Well, first of all congratulations on making it this far. There really isn’t that much I can say, but in the next round, the most important thing is standing out, so if you can do that well, you will win!

Loser---A luminous hope
I love the way this one sounds. It just seems so perfect and it sounds amazing. Excellent.

WIS---Follow Your Guiding Light
It fits, it works but it is missing pazazz. There isn’t anything wrong with it, but there is nothing special about it either. If you make it past this round it is the last one, and things without pazzaz will get killed.

Kurisutaru---Lighting The Way
It is very, very plain. There is nothing special about it. I really don’t like it, sorry.

Qanda---*fade in*The lone vigilante*fade out* *fade in*dispelling darkness*fade out*
Well, I’m glad someone used a fade because this is the perfect signature for one! Anyway, I love your subtext, it really is great. Excellent work!

Clucky---Beacon of hope
Hmmm, it really doesn’t work that well for me. It was a good effort, but I just don’t see it. Sorry about that.

Req---A Lone Beacon
There is something about that that I don’t like. I’m trying to put my finger on it but I can’t. I think it is the wording, it just seems kind of off to me.

Eliminate: Req, Clucky and Kurisutaru

Erm...what exactly would you define a beacon as? Unless you have a different definition than, say, the dictionary...

Beacon

A signaling or guiding device, such as a lighthouse, located on a coast.
A radio transmitter that emits a characteristic guidance signal for aircraft.
A source of guidance or inspiration.
A signal fire, especially one used to warn of an enemy's approach.

[syn: lighthouse, beacon light]

Thank you for all your kind comments. :D

I must agree with Req though, judges should check up the dictionary for words they do not really know rather than mark the subtext down because they misunderstood it. Beacon is actually a pretty common replacement word for a lighthouse.

Loser1921 // A luminous hope
Wonderful subtext that fits with the set. 9/10

Watericesage // Follow Your Guiding Light
This is good, but a bit odd sounding. I'm just not that fond of this one... 7/10

Kurisutaru // Lighting The Way
Rather plain, and expected. Could be better. 6/10

Qanda // *fade in*The lone vigilante*fade out* *fade in*dispelling darkness*fade out*
What a wonderful subtext! I like the use of uncommon vocabulary, and that fade is well placed. Plus it fits with all aspects of the signature! 10/10

Sirclucky // Beacon of hope
This subtext has the same problem as Kuri's. Bland and expected. 6/10

.:Requiem:. // A Lone Beacon
It's rather bland, but I like the wording of it. 8/10

Eliminate: WIS, Kurisutaru, and Sirclucky

Yes, I know what it means, and just to let you know, I didn't mark off points just because I didn't understand the word or something. I guess having said that, it kind of contradicts what I said before. It is kind of hard to explain, but let's just say when I think of "A Lone Beacon" I think of like a lighthouse by itself without any light shining, rather than a lighthouse on one side with the light shining towards another. It may just be me, but I think I'll keep my votes for elimination.

As for Maniac, I'll give her a warning for not meeting the deadline.

Kurisutaru, Sirclucky, and Watericesage. ((Tied with .:Requiem:., then singled out a random number generator))

For the last round, I've decided to have two signatures rather than one, because I think that just because someone who has given great subtexts before and just gives one bad subtext this round, they don't exactly deserve to lose. ((I so should have done this for the last two PPTSKQs too =\))

Round 6

Image
((Set by .:Requiem:.))

Image
((Set by YesItIsh))

Subtexts should be in by Saturday, May 21. Judging should be done by Tuesday, May 24.

[[ Had a change of mind, anyone who read this part, ignore it ]]
