Execution, Day 13

Dyl, Matterbug, and Susannahmio met in the war room. Dyl and Matterbug stayed close together, and avoided being anywhere near Susannahmio. Matterbug faked pulling out a gun and blowing the smoke away, but Susannahmio merely smirked and shook her head.
After waiting for 15 minutes, Q still hadn't shown up. They looked to each other and raised eyebrows. Suddenly a message came on the main display.
"Due to technical difficulties, there will be no execution today. - Q."
Susannahmio grinned. "I guess I'm lucky, huh?"
Dyl and Matterbug glared at her and left, heading to Quark's together.

There was no execution due to some convenient technical difficulties..

Night 13
Sitting and Quark's, Dyl and Matterbug looked to each other anxiously as they sipped their drinks, wondering which of them would be attacked first. They didn't need to wait long, as a bright beam struck Dyl square in the chest. Matterbug checked for a pulse, but unfortunately, the third attack on Dyl would be the last.
Q appeared looking to Matterbug and then to Dyl. "I take it he's dead?" Matterbug nodded.
"My apologies, but someone told the Continuum where to find Q, and I was asked to investigate, hence why there was no investigation. At any rate, it looks like your friend here was Miles O'Brien, the Chief Engineer of DS9. He always had a knack for making something out of nothing..."
She snapped her fingers, bringing Susannahmio to their location. "Now that it is the two of you left, there will be no more executions, as you cannot form a majority against each other. It will come down to what happens during nights."
Susannahmio grinned at Matterbug and faked holding a gun, then turned and left Quark's, reading to enjoy her next day on the station. Matterbug sighed.

Night 14
Matterbug walked down the Promenade, stopping to window shop at a few places. As he approached Garak's now-closed clothing shop, he sensed someone was following him. He turned around slowly, and sure enough, there stood Susannahmio, a phaser in hand.
"So. We were right. It was you," he commented.
She smirked. "Yes."
"If you kill me, you'll kill yourself, you know."
"I doubt it," she replied, raising her phaser and aiming.
Susannahmio fired the phaser, set on kill. As it hit Matterbug, part of it oddly reflected back at her, striking her straight in the chest. Both of them crumpled to the ground, dead.
Q snapped into existence just after this happened and sighed. "Well, I wondered if it would come down to this. They managed to wipe each other out. I had hoped at least *someone* would be standing when it was all over...oh well."
Another voice behind her snickered, "They're just mortals."
She turned around. "I hope this was a good lesson to the both of you," she grouched, glaring at the man and approximately 10-year-old boy that stood next to him.
"Actually, I thought our son had quite a marvelous idea. I wouldn't mind trying it myself someday..." the male, adult Q commented.
"Don't even think about it. Now. Time to go home."
All three blinked out of existence.
