If I'm allowed to GM the next round of this game, I have serious plans on giving Ness supporters an 'unfair advantage'. Of course my plans also give all other characters 'unfair advantages' as not to play favorites. I call those 'advantages' 'special abilities'.

Just throwing out part of my idea. This is just a preview of what I have planned:

Ness's abilities:
PSI Magnet: Can not attack or heal, but absorbs all attacks set his way.
PK Flash: Deal -3 damage to two characters
PK Fire: Deal -5 damage to one character
PK Thunder: Deal -4 damage to one character or deal -6 damage to one character and -1 damage to Ness

PK thunder should do a lot of damage, but to a random player. (That's how it is in Earthbound)

I'm basing my rules for specials off of those in SSBM, not off of the original game. If I did base it off of the original, Ness and Mewtwo would just be too powerful.

Since I saw a character, here are his phase two skills.

Luigi's Specials:
Fireball: -4 damage to one character
Luigi Cyclone: -3 damage to two characters
Super Jump Punch: -4 damage to one character. Target can not attack or heal
Green Missile: -6 damage to one character and -1 damage to Luigi

Link's Specials:
Bow: -2 damage to two characters
Boomerang: -3 damage to one character. Target can not attack, unless having already done so
Bomb: -4 damage to one character
Spin Attack: -3 damage to two characters

SSBM Phase 2 Preview (approval pending):
New attack system: Only Hurts for -3 and Heals for +2. No mix of the two in some odd ratio. Also, it will be required to chose a character for attacking and that character's victim, which is important since only attackers can use weapons, unless otherwise noted. There are unlimited heals per character per round, but there will be a HP cap at 50 HP, which just happens to be the starting HP. Special moves will be handed out to a select few charaters each round. As you can see above, most are just stronger attacks, but some are stronger heals and special effects. Lastly, I have three more points about gameplay. 1: Kills will be awarded to the characters (since they are ones attacking) and posters (since they are the ones telling who attacks and who dies). I want to honor the characters a little more and really show who the favorite characters are. 2: Characters will not die until the GM says so. That means that Roy can be at 1 HP, get hit for -3 twice, make one last attack or special move, and get hit again before the round is over. It adds a little bit more Melee to the experience. 3: As the next GM, I will not vote in any round, unless I have to. I am very biased when I play on GCN, but I will control myself. On the other hand, if special moves or weapons are not used, I will use them for you.

More weapons will be issued. There will be two or three weapons a round, but they won't be game altering, especially with the higher HP levels and the new battle system. All weapons are single use, unless otherwise noted. With the weapons, come strategy. All will be based on weapons in SSBM and all will have similar effects. I think I have worked out most of what I want to do with them. How to use Pokeballs were/are a pain to figure out (still fine tuning)! The Hammer may not be seen, but the Home Run Bat will 8) Here are a few examples:
Super Scope: -1 damage to up to four characters, or -2 damage for up to two characters, or -4 damage to one character.
Fan: No damage, but the target can not attack or heal for the rest of the round.
Clocking Device: User can not be damaged for the round, but only deals -2 damage.
Freezie: -4 damage to one character. Target can not heal, but can not be damaged again for the rest of the round
Home Run Bat: A secret poll will be held to see who gets the bat and who gets attacked. The victim is automatically eliminated no matter how much HP s/he has left.
As you can see, there will be some rounds that are special events designed around an item, ie, Maxim Tomato, Heart Container, Pokeballs, and Home Run Bat.



PS: If MJ comes back and sees this, I have taken over the math part of your GM job. Sorry, but I love this game so much that I didn't want to see it get ruined or fall apart. I know you have a tough family thing right now and you should be with them and not worrying about some online game. Also, I'm would love to take over as GM for the next phase of the game if that is cool :D
