For those topics one could describe as the forum equivalent of a twinkie. Word games, forum contests and giveaways are all the rage here.

But E isn't wearing a hat!
And I probably should clarify now before anyone assumes the same thing that E does not have a hat and E will not die if the other four die because he (or she) is the one with the gun. And who controls the gun is not suicidal. ... for now.

Ah I didn't see that he had to be wearing the hat
A because he's behind the wall and can't be shot if he gets it wrong!

No! Wrong answer! (Though it may be A, not saying it isn't. Just the reasoning's wrong). It's not supposed to be one of those word games xD. There's no tricks about the wall or the hats. The hats don't change color. A, B, C, D have hats. One of them needs to speak up and say what hat they need. The wall doesn't go on forever. And of course, E can move however s/he wants. 1) S/he got the gun. 2) S/he isn't buried.

A, because his side of the wall has a mirroring reflective surface. (If the other side was reflective, it could be anyone on that side.)

C, as he thinks to himself "Well, D can see both me and B's hat, so if they were the same colour he would have shouted his own colour out. Since he didn't, B and me must be wearing different colour hats, and since B is wearing a white hat, I must be wearing a black hat". So he knows for certain that he is wearing a black hat.

Well, if they were told that there are two black and two white hats, then I think Ixistant is right.

Did I not say that =sighs= I've never saved a complete copy of the riddle and therefore always manage to miss something.
Yes. That is the right answer because yes, they were told that they were two black hats and two white hats. Even though I apparently missed that.
