All right... today I was gone most of the day, but...

The less-than-standard 10 minutes of scratching Mango's ears...
About three minutes playing with my friend Nick's two sweet lil yorkies...
And about 30 minutes walking Wolfie on an extra-special-actual-trail walk with the family when we got home.
Ahh, and the standard combined 5 min feeding, which is to be expected.

Congratulations to all the winners! These trophies were originally made by DM was on fire!- I only did a bit of editing. If you guys post your Neopets usernames, I'll see if I can get some prizes to you as well. :) Feel free to use these trophies as long as you wish.

Since this contest had ended, another one is starting!

This is exactly the same thing, but for August. I'm hoping to see a few more entrants- this month there were only three of them. Good luck and get to work!

Whow many PPT'ers are for cruelty to animals......

But yeah, keep up the right ideas and stuff. Though eating most meat is cruelty to animals because, y'know, they died. And got intensively bred in a life of pain but erk... >.> Better stop before I crush the dreams of saving naimals of some meat eaters ^^;

:roflol: Lol... I'll fix that shortly. :P

Alisquid- This week's (more like month's... I unfortunately never get around to changing it, and it sometimes takes a while for people to suggest things) topic is pounds and shelters. :) However, most of the recent posts are about the contest.

I am not a vegetarian, actually. It's natural to eat meat- we have canine teeth for the purpose of eating meat. Animals eat other animals- it's a way of life. However, that doesn't mean there is anything wrong with being vegetarian.

I'll be posting my views of my city's shelters and pounds shortly- probably after I fix that trophy issue.

EDIT: It has been fixed. :)

Another edit: The shelters and pounds around here are pretty okay. It's the stores that bother me, but you've already heard about my issues on that subject. Annyywwaayy, we have a few no-kill shelters around here- and I LOVE no kill shelters. Most of them are pretty clean, too. I have no big issues with any of the ones I have seen.

Animal shelters, huh?
The one in my town stinks. The people hate kids, and the place is so lonely. Awful, Awful!
However, the one in the next town over(Not over 30 minutes away) is wonderful. The love vistors, and the people love the animals.
Now, for a story from that shelter:
Anythings Possible was there, and my friend and I had been in the cat room the whole time, so we headed over to the dog room. It was nice. We walked around, and say my other friend and one of the councilers with a dog on a leash. How ever, the dog had plopped down about three steps from its cage. Apperently, the dog had been shy, so they decided to take her on a walk, and this happened.
So we sat down and petter her, gave her treats, and she relaxed. Annika began brushing her very matted fur.
One of the vollenters told us that we were the first people she had let put her, and she had been there for 2 or 3 weeks!
She was sucha sweet dog, but I wonder what happened to her before, and why she opened her heart to us.

Thankfully shelters in places less-densely-populated are better- the Conifer center bareley gets any strays coming in, so when they do they can get special attention.

Cool! 2nd place! ^^ My username is Starlighty, I'll use the tropy in my siggie...

Heh, just as I was about to post all the stuff we did today.

Some friends whose dog had run away (from a bath, she got sprayed by a skunk and they were trying to bathe her) came over to ask if we'd seen her- we had, and they didn't find her the way we pointed- Libby, the dog, had gone straight home when she heard them calling. But they did stay at out house pretty much the rest of the day, and we played with Wolfie, tried (and failed) to pick up Lucky because he was afraid, (ended up petting him a lot), and kisssed Mango for a long, long time because he's so CUTE! I'd say about an hour-and-a-half total of pet interaction, counting feeding, playing, petting, kissing, and brushing. (Can't wait till I'm accepted into the Westernaires- riding class- even more animal interaction!)

Good job everyone, and woohoo first! My username is richdream.

Anyways, shelters around here are pretty good, except they aren't clean. They look after the animals health and give them attention and whatnot, but they clean out the cages once or twice every month, and they usually smell pretty bad. But they do make sure the animals go to good homes, they won't send them to a place where its clear they will be back in a week. The few I've been in anyways.

I'm not a vegetarian, but I only eat meat that is bought privately. I couldn't eat store-bought meat after knowing the conditions it most likely lived in in the few weeks it lived.

I'm not a vegitarian... I deeply considered becoming one for a while, but... I just can't stop- plus my parents would be shocked, me having always been the one who loves meat. That and I'm underweight- if I didn't get all that protien I'd probably get really sick.

Today the same friends came over, so we took Wolfie out to the backyard with the ropeswing, tried out his brand new 30 foot tether, and played with him while waiting for our turn. I'd say that was about 20 minutes for me playing with Wolfie- I didn't swing nearly as much because it got boring for me and I couldn't think up any good warcries. Shmoo was playing outside most of the day, but I did bellyrub their cat, "Momma Kitty" for... uh... 2 minutes XD. When they were leaving, I walked Wolfie down with them to get the walk over at the same time - that was probably 10 minutes. And I spent about 5 minutes comforting Lucky, who gets scared around strangers, plus the daily 5 minutes of feeding.
