For those topics one could describe as the forum equivalent of a twinkie. Word games, forum contests and giveaways are all the rage here.

Thank you for the rating, judges, and I really appreciate it. :) Congratulations to Lillie for getting in the Pink Ink.

Aye, I'll try to make my stand out more next time. I think I get what you are saying. Again, thank you.

As promised, Chapter Two is up a day early, which gives you an extra day to work on it!

Check the Front page for details, and feel free to post or pm any questions you may have. :)

Chapter one has finished now anyway, we are just waiting for the critics to review. Chapter two will start on Monday and will finish on Friday. Do you think you will be able to participate?

I will participate in round two. For sure.

Oooh! I have an idea of what I could do! Lycanthropes (fancy name for Werecreatures. Whooo! :o) would count as... what? Half-human? Just asking, because different people have different opinions on what they actually are. ;)

Sun Feb 20, 2005 7:59 pm

Animal Lycanthropes

These are people who change into pure animals. They retain no human memory or consciousness and simply behave like animals. Usually the animals are more bloodthirsty than usual and particularly large or powerful, but they are entirely bestial.

Fusion Lycanthropes

These are lycanthropes whose animal form is unlike a normal animal. The difference may be physical. For example, the wolf form of a werewolf may resemble more a giant hairy man with a wolf's head than a true wolf. The difference may also be mental. In these cases the animal form retains the mind of the human. These creatures are obviously more dangerous than standard wild animals as they possess the physical powers of a beast and the mind of a human.

So yeah I guess you could use those, if you want to make me blind by using long words!:p

BTW I found that definition here http://www.evilscience.net/manuals/guid ... hropes.htm and it has lots about night creatures so if anyone is stuck on what to write about, take a peek!

I would like to add my thanks to everyone who is participating in this competition. Writing short stories is not easy, especially when given a specific timeframe to write it in, and a topic that you may or may not be knowledgeable or interested in.

Everyone did a great job. My ratings were based, and will continue to be based, on character development, story line, general interest in the characters and the story and yes, punctuation and grammar.

Xjox's suggestion to read your story out loud is a good one. You will probably find those little typos, grammar, tense and punctuation problems doing that. I did find some overuse of commas and underuse of paragraphs.

Congratulations Lillie! Congratulations to all of you. We have so many talented, creative and smart people here. I am very impressed and can't wait to see the next stories. Keep up the good work!

Uh-oh... horror stuff! I never ever write that! :P
Ah well ... will try my best - probably be off school tomorrow (because I'm feeling awful!) so I'll get started then! ;)

:P I was the one who liked the ending.
I'm the Paula Abdul of this competition. :P

Could I join? I'll look into it more tomorrow, I missed Chapter One, but can I anyway? I have to go soon, but I will look into it a lot more tomorrow, and get my entry written over the week...

Yes you can, as no one was eliminated from chapter one, then people may still join in.

To clear things up, I didn't eliminate anyone who failed to submit a story, I pmed them all incase they had forgotten that they had signed up. However, anyone that fails to submit a story from now on will be booted out!:P

In my opinion, the more the merrier, it gives me more rounds to think up evil things for you to write! *cough*

Congrats to Lillie for winning the first round! :D I would also like to commend everyone on actually writing a story, the fact that each of you took the effort to sit down and write a thousand words or so of text is admirable on its own.

I have some advice for all of you though - some of the Valentine's stories were rather conventional and uncreative. They were well-written but the plot was normal and wouldn't interest the reader too much.

For example, the one about Lora making valentines was well-written and described, however it is slightly pointless reading a large chunk pf paragraph on the process of card-making. A few other stories followed the old formula of two people meeting, getting to know each other, and then falling in love, which is all fine and dandy but hardly a story which will make readers sit up and take notice. Adding a few twists could have spiced up the stories.

In short, in the sea of contestants, you have to make your story stand out to gain the judges' favour. Nevertheless, that was just the warm-up session. I look forward to reading your superb stories for Round 2! :)

Aie. I have the feeling I'm going to approach this the entirely wrong way.

Congrats Lillie :)

Thank you for the wonderful ratings :P even if I think it's just cause you don't want the fluffy bunnies to go after you telling how good I am at writing.
I'll try not to put papayas in the next one, but I can't promise anything...
