Summer reading?

Fri Jun 18, 2004 5:04 pm

So, do you have summer reading for school, and if so, what?

I have to read 7 books. -_- Great Gatsby, Poisonwood Bible, Their Eyes Were Watching God, Turn of the Screw, Lincoln at Gettysburg, Man and Superman, and Perils of Prosperity. Guess I can't put it off until the week before school starts this time. *sigh*

I never had to do summer reading. The only class I know that had to was Honors English 4. They had to read 4 books I think. It's a good thing I stopped taking honors english before that. I wouldn't have read them, especially not over the summer. It was worse for people who had it second sememster though because they had to read the books before the class started, but while they were still in first sememster classes so it was probably worse for them.

Great Gatsby = boring.
I haven't read the others, though I've heard of a few of 'em.

I have to read A Man For All Seasons by Robert Bolt. This year I don't have to write entries on it (before school starts), though.

I only have to read 2 books and fill out a chart about each of them..Such boringness.

Nope. I probably have to read a few stories for Language (I've had to read Roger Up and Roger Down, Call It Courage (chapter 1) and King Arthur and The Sword in the Stone) though.

EDIT- I'm setting up shop now! :)

Nope, no books for me at all. I feel good! :D

Unfortunetly, yes :(

I have to read either Jackaroo or Monster, and then a book of my choice. I'll then take a test once school starts again on Jackaroo/Monster and write an essay on my choice book :?

I don't think Ontario teachers believe in summer homework. :D

I've never had summer reading, or school work over the summer.
Though I did have a few nasty teachers who gave us essays over Christmas Holidays.
*blinks*
I suppose thats one good thing about all the cutbacks to schooling in Alberta... teachers don't get enough money to want to give us long term projects.

But i'm outta public school. So meh.

Nah...hell no..
I'd like it though, my dad would complain less about buying books

I've never had to do summer reading or homework.

Everyone at my school has to do summer reading. Regular, Honors, AP, whatever--freshman through senior year you'll be reading something over the summer. Of course, the book selection differs depending on the level of class you're in.

No summer reading for school, but most likely reading for summer school. Reading a large textbook, that is.

But otherwise, I've never had summer reading before. It's not something teachers here do.
