Do you play an instrument?

Sun Jan 30, 2005 3:54 am

I do! Violin and Piano. For about 4-5 years. Also, UIL is coming up (for me anyways) so what are some songs you are currently working on aswell? Doing La Folia (#1 in Suzuki Book 6) for UIL, and school stuff is too easy. I also don't practice (maybe like once a week or month), and therefore that is why I never advance anywhere. :P So..enough about me, what about you?

(movable if not suited for the right place)

I play piano and euphonium (in treble clef). I'm doing grade 6 conservatory for both of them.

In band we're doing Entry of the Gladiators...Blues Brothers Revue...and a couple of lesser known pieces. :P

Heh, I just got back from band. :P

Now that I'm just in pep band, I just play the piccolo. I can play the pic, flute, french horn, and drums though. :)

^ Ditto

My primary instrument is flute but since my college only has a pep band, I've been playing mostly piccolo these days. :)

Other then that I don't "play" much else but I can at least play a scale or two on clarinet, trumpet and trombone...I fiddle with my sibling's instruments when they're not in the house. :P

Piano, thats all for now. Hope to play a wind intrument in the future though.

I play the clarinet in band.

I can play some simple songs on the piano because I have taken piano lessons for about 2 years when I was 10/11. I used to be able to play some very simple beginner's songs on my brother's alto saxophone, and if I try I can play a few notes on my sister's flute, but I have trouble with it.

I've been playing piano for 3 years, so, yes, I play an instrument.

Sun Jan 30, 2005 5:58 am

No... But I use to...
I played the claranet for 3 years... And the piano for 5.

Sun Jan 30, 2005 6:08 am

I'm playing the violin! Not for very long though, about two years...

Sun Jan 30, 2005 6:13 am

Piano for 8 years.

Timps.
Snare.
Bass Drum (my fave)
Cymbols (it's a noble art!)
Triangle! (Who hasn't?)
Xylaphone
Vibes
Chimes (second fave, I love that sound. Tis heaven. I want a set when i'm an eccentric artist)

Various other percussion type instruments my instructor told me to play.

Sun Jan 30, 2005 6:31 am

Yep.

Clarinet -- 5 years (toured China last month with the school band).
Piano -- 8 years.

Though I've also played:
- Flute
- Violin (6 years)
- Cello
- Guitar
- Recorder, but that doesn't really count :P

Sun Jan 30, 2005 7:03 am

Yep, of course. :)

Piano- 10 years
Percussion (basically what Inrun listed)- 4 years
Drumset- 4 years (I've quit though)
Violin- 2 years (also quit)
Recorder- 2 years (never continued)

As for piano pieces, I've just finished my RCM grade 10 exam. The pieces I played then were...

Repertoire:
Prelude and Fugue in D Major - J.S. Bach
Sonata in E flat Major - W.A. Mozart
Waltz in E Minor - F. Chopin
Suite Français - F. Poulenc
Rondo No. 1 - B. Bartok

Studies:
Study in F Major - C. Czerny
A Trifle - A.K. Lyadov

Currently, I'm about to start the London College program stuff, but not just yet. My piano teacher's making me work on rather difficult versions of Canon in D by J. Pachelbel (linked is a game that has the music, which probably sounds familiar to everyone- I play a five page, more difficult, solo piano version), Memory (that song from Cats), Unchained Melody, and some 1920's two-player piece called In A Persian Market.

Piano, Guzheng (chinese instrument; stopped for a long time now 'cause i can't be bothered to practice), guitar (started a while ago after i stopped guzheng. I want to play drums

*blinks at Yoshi*

...Erm. Yes. You = scare me.

I play trumpet :D In Jazz Band we're playing Swing Machine, Chick on the Grill, and...it's either Honesty or Honestly, I don't remember which.

Then in concert band it's your lovely Tocatta for a New Age, Chorale + Jubilo, and Russian Sailors' Dance.

Well, my flute is kinda in hiding in the corner of my room...don't think I'm really going to go anywhere more with it. Haven't even opened the case since before I moved...but I played for 4/5 years.
