insane plan, MK;I

some months ago, i assisted in the creation of, possibly, the worst idea yet.
to get a totally fictitous word into the oxford english dictionary.
other than nearly convincing my english teacher of this word (stupid me, i forgot to regale her of its nederlandic origins..) and getting derbyshire county wardens using the word, i have personally had little sucess.

and here is the website.
http://hofflenosh.f2g.net/

any chance some of you could help us poor portenters to spread this diabolical word?

edit: and if all else fails, i shall argue my case that pie is the very core of hofflesnosh.
its a load of pure, indilated rubbish to be honest, but it makes compelling reading material.

I'm always in the mood for a nice new word :D

remember the motto at all times:
Embrace thine hofflesnosh!

That is a cool word but I doubt I can use it everyday without people going, "...J....WHAT?" :P but hey, 'tis be a cool word to be in the dictionary.

already have.. "the man" using it ;)

This is an interesting idea, good luck with your goal. I'm in Australia so I'm sure my use of the word won't have much effect on your goal of spreading it across Britain. Having said that, it would be interesting to have been using a word for awhile before it comes out in the dictionary so I can tell everyone "I told you so!".

Considering the definition of the word, I can't see myself using it all that regularly, hmmm...

The word somewhat reminds me of "hogwash", which was probably where it was inspired from, right? :P

Ummm... I live in America! And I'll try to spread it around every where I can, but I kinda live out in the boonies, so it'll be kind of hard. o.o Hey! I can do it here!

Hofflenosh, hofflenosh, HOFFLENOSH!!! :P

completely and utterly made up.
other suggestions include:
Spako.
Fregged.
blizznag.
Hypothalate, and then finally, the fateful moment..
behold, the origins of.. the word!
no no no, it has to be really RANDOM. Liiiiike: Hofflenosh

not as fanciful as youd think eh :P

Shweet, a new word, and a word I can use too. Seriously, sometimes it seems like the only conversation I have with friends or parents is just hofflenosh.

By the way, anyone ever read the book Frindle? It's written for kids but it's still a very cute book about a boy who actually gets the word Frindle into the dictionary as a synonym for "pen".

wikipedia has rejected our (IE:portents) word.
i have sunk to a new low :(

But Portent rocks!

Wikipedia seems to be refusing to load now =/

I think if everyone searches for it and enters it alot it might help

Hofflenosh / [hoff-ul-nosh]/ n.; a debate/discussion/topic that resurfaces periodically with no change to anyone’s opinion made or likely.

eg:pie :p
