Rant: Yes my dog got pregnant on her first heat

Mon Apr 11, 2005 6:59 am

No, she is not spayed... YET! I'm trying to get that to happen, but its in my moms hands, not mine.

Its come to the point to where I feel ASHAMED to mention it on boards because if I do people instantly ramble on about how irresponsible I am.
When I try to make them understand that I know its not a good thing and I am very much against it, they freak out even more and totally ignore adressing that I said that.
There are screenshots I'm uploading that show what happened.

Really?

Well I hardly think it's your fault. You shouldn't feel irresponsible. Dogs get pregnant all the time if they've not been spayed, especially if they're outside dogs. Mine hasn't been pregnant but that's because she stays inside all the time. Same with cats, we had to get all ours spayed straight away when we found out that one of our cats got pregnant.

Ashamed? O.o Why? There's nothing wrong with a dog having puppies. It's natural. Animals are animals. It's the way of life. :)

You have no idea how much happy-ness I feel hearing that. Omg...I...can't...hold...back! AHHHH! *Glomps*

But I jshould have her fixed by nwo. I don't have one fixed animal. Surprisingly, my current female cats have only had 2 litters each (and I still am convenced that my cat oddball kidnapped 2 of galadriels.)

Also, here are the screen shots.

The other way around. She was hit by a car a year ago and puppies were had a few years ago.

Naw, the puppies are long gone. Akita-mastiffe mix. I have a picture of one of the pups, and parents. Wanna see?

And the sad thing is, I told a mod and they TOTALLY sided with the others. :\

Ouch, that sucks. ¬_¬ Doesn't sound like a good forum to me.

Furry-paws.com is a game like neopets with dogs. Very fun. Sadly, the mods tend to be the anti-mix breed-anti non show dog- anti normal dog owner type.

I think I might be the only one who has outside, un-neutered dogs. They make me feel horrible. I've done animal abuse before too (and feel ever so guilty for it ALL THE TIME.) and they tend to bring the memories back. The game itself is fun though.

Why not for dial-up users? I have dial-up and it loaded fine. o_O

They're so cute. :)

Wow, those people on the other Forum really need to get off their high horses and try being a bit nicer and more understanding. Looks like the majority of them are into the whole "elite" pure breeding thing, I doubt you're going to get much sympathy there.

Although I can perhaps see where they were coming from at the beginning of the conversation when they were talking about a dog in its first heat can be in danger if she gets pregnant (if it's true of course) the rest of the conversation is totally uncalled for. "Trying"... yes! You're 10 years old and the dogs aren't you're sole responsibility and in addition everyone has to start somewhere. Pfft at them all telling you trying isn't good enough and you should get rid of your dogs - to some people (not the people on that Forum obviously) a dog is more than an animal you can take to a show to win prizes, its a pet, part of the family and a friend!

As for issues questioning your responsibility over the dog getting hit by a car and such - dogs get hurt all the time and I'm certain that a lot of the owners weren't neglecting their dogs or anything like that when the events occured.

My advice, just ignore them, people like that aren't worth your time. Quit now before they give you anymore grief, you don't need it and I'm sure deep-down you care for your dogs.
