My driving test is tomorrow!

Fri Apr 15, 2005 1:27 am

I've failed my last test because of the errors I pointed out in ChromeFox's thread. I won't be making the same mistakes, and I won't be nervous this time. I'm taking charge and getting this over with, at least I hope. If I fail, I'm going to have a lot of anger to repress, because I don't like failing.

I just hope that my driving test this time doesn't include any more surprises. I'm going to practice parking backwards and such today just in case.

I'm definetely glad that I'll be able to use my mom's car this time. It's the Honda mini-van, and I've practiced with it for several months. I used it on my first try only to find out that I couldn't use it because THE FRONT WINDOW WOULDN'T ROLL DOWN! :x It is being fixed and will be ready for me tomorrow hours before my test, lest those mechanics want hell from me.

Further elaboration about one of the reasons I failed:

> not giving way to the pedestrian. Okay, two guys started crossing the street to my left, where I was going to turn. They then walked back! It seemed obvious that they decided to let me pass first. So I waited about three seconds after they went back to the side and started turning, and it was then that they started crossing again! And I got a mark for it! BAH! :x

I blame myself, though. I should have encouraged them to cross by waiving my hand the way you do when telling someone to go ahead, and I should have waited until they did.

Man, I hope I pass tomorrow.

Best of luck, you seem to have a set idea of how you're going to go about passing your test and I agree that staying calm and not letting your nerves get the better of you is the best thing you can do. When I took my driving test I ended up bursting into tears once I go inside the licensing center because of all the gathered up emotion that I'd managed to keep under control for 30-60 minutes (another 60 minutes if you include the driving lesson I had prior to the test). Just being able to stay calm for those 30-60 minutes gave me enough time to think clearly about what I was doing, work things through and pass my test. Good luck!

Thanks, Medusa! I realize that keeping my cool and not worrying too much will play an important role in passing my upcoming driving test.

Well... around 15 hours to go.

Best of luck to you. You're going to be nervous no matter what, but just hope your instructor is lenient enough to let a few minor mistakes slide on account of nervousness.

Back parrallel parking.. *shudder*
Thats what got me. I totalled someones rear bumper because I had never done it before, lol.
And the I took it again and passed with flying colours.
Best of luck, don't do what I did.

I realized a bit later after saying in ChromeFox's thread that I'm concerned over parallel parking that I'm actually good at parallel parking. It's never been a problem for me. What I thought parallel parking was, was parking into a parking lot backwards. o_O Yeah... I don't know what was going on in that head of mine. I mean PARALLEL parking! Duh!

Anyways, I PASSED! Yay. :D I'm so happy. I wasn't that nervous, but I definetely did get the butterflies in the my belly. I just kept my cool and gave my upmost attention to the task at hand when the time came and pulled through with very few minor mistakes.

You serious? :o Now I'm convinced that it really does matter who you get as your driving instructor as to what you do during the test. I didn't get the same instructor this time. I had actually hoped that I'd get someone a little more perky or less serious, and I did! Not that I had any problem with my last driving instructor. She wasn't mean, just a little too serious. My driving instructor for my last test (the one I passed) made me do almost the exact same test as the last one (same route, same left turn into the same neighborhood, same area to parallel park, etc.), and the only difference was on my approach back towards the DMV, she made me turn right and go down that road, then turn left, go down that road, and another left to go down that road, and then a right to go back to the DMV. That part was just some driving added to the test.
