I got a puppy!

Fri Apr 15, 2005 2:17 am

We just got a new puppy.
It was supposed to be my brothers......... but all he wanted to do was name him.
Rocky the Golden Lab.
He's a cross between a Dalmation and a Chocolate Lab.
He is 7 and 1/2 weeks old.

He's not a golden lab if he's a cross between a dalmation and a chocolate lab.

But congrats. bet he's cute.

Well...
He looks exactly like the Golden Lab on the Puppy Chow bag.
And they said he was part Dalmation.
We still don't believe that.
There was one of the labs there......
And he/she had like a golden line down them, and half of their paws were golden.
I called them 'Skunk'.
The puppy litter was 12 puppies.
One died.
And we may be going to get this other dog tomorrow.

Yes, the cookie fits that dog to a tee. And the name too (like Rocky Road ice cream).

Spent 15 minutes cleaning up an old rabbit cage.
When I did.............

After we got him, we noticed it was too small.

All puppies for the most part... look alike when they're born. As they grown into adult dogs they start to change appearances.

Adam, you need to go to a pet store and get him a cage specifically made for a dog. Or, go without a cage altogether, like I did. I ended up penning up my dog in the kitchen with "baby gates" when he was little. So, if he decided to pee, it only affected the tile floor in the kitchen and not the living room carpet.

Currently he's sleeping in a blue box.
He is sooooooooooo comfortable in there.
My brother loves the rocky movies alot that he named the dog after him.

Why do you even want him in a cage anyway? Dogs don't belong in cages.

Only if you're transporting the dog in a long car ride, aeroplane flight etc. Even then it should be a plastic one, and it should be large enough. That one isn't, even for transporting scenarios.

I don't even believe in keeping pets in cages for long periods, anyway. Unless they're remotely small such as a mouse, rat, hamster etc. Even then they should be allowed to exercise using an exercise ball.

Crate training isnt too bad... provided that crate is the right size that is.

I have guinea pigs, and they spend a fair amount of time in their cages, but they are full sized rabbit cages without lids. You can't let a degu out to run unless its in a tiny room, with the door locked and every single crack, hole, vent, etc covered and cemented shut. The little bigger will chew through the hamster ball.

So, how are you gonna cook it?

Oh dear lord.
