Are they just *trying* to ruin teenagers' minds?

Sat Apr 16, 2005 11:32 pm

So, I get this school magazine published by the State of Florida that has to do with colleges and all that jazz. I look on the front cover and what do I see?

What Do U Want 2B?
Finally, info to Help U Find an answer p.10

Yeah. This is on the cover of a magazine that is supposed to help you get into college. o.o

Don't worry, Fidds, I uploaded it to my own photobucket. :P

:roflol:

I found that very funny. And Fidds' pic fit right in with this topic too.

Haha. That is rather stupid... nice pic of Fidds, though. And the caption was good.

Heh...And I thought '2B' was a type of pencil :P

I hate it when books I read contain passages of e-mails or IMs send between the characters. They're almost always in chatspeak, and it's rather annoying. >_< An author sits and writes an entire book in perfect English, and gets to one page and switches to horrendous chatspeak. It's disgusting. Maybe they think they're being realistic... but yeesh. The characters in the book seemed quite intelligent until they got near a computer... Someone needs to inform the adults of this world that the greater majority of intelligent teens use proper English online.

Uh, lol (Abr. Laughing Out Loud). No, we like to use chatspeak because it's easier.

Oh. I just don't understand stupid very well. :)

Stupid chatspeak... confusing me...

Btw, Stupid=chatspeak not, "o_0". :P

That's pretty insane. It seems a lot of magazine articles do that now. My mom types in chatspeak more than I do. (I know this as a fact, she is a lol'er, a u'er, and uses z's instead of s's.) But the fact that it's for college... Welcome to 2005.

(I typed 2004 at first and then had to check the date on my computer. Wow, I don't even know what year it is...)

Chatspeak... in... published material?!

*eye twitch* Uuurrgghh... Urge to destroy world... Riiiising... e__e;

I hate chatspeak. Despise it. I try not to talk to anyone who uses chatspeak. If you use chatspeak, chances are I won't/don't like you. People need to learn how to actually TYPE correctly. I did when I was eleven. Why can't teenagers/college students/ADULTS?! x__X

urge to kill... normal?!
i accepted the fact that idiots would rule the world when a girl handed in GCSE coursework in lesser 1337 (y'know, the c00l, pwn3d, f33r rubbish)
and had it marked, at a high pass (B i think)
well, as i wandered off while typing this i seem to have forgotten the rest of my point.

ARGH I HATE IT WHAT THEY DO THAT!
I have 17 people on MSN and all but one of them speaks in a LITERATE form. The one who isn't is blocked for the moment... I'll make fun of chatspeak and I use lol but that's about it...

It's just like opening a newspaper and finding a whole article in L337 ... I mean is this the future of our literature? Or our magizines? Or our newspaper? To be in chatspeak.

H3ADLINES:
LYK THIS ACTRESS IS PR3GO!!!111!! OMG what the heck...

I Would love to just make it Illegal...
