How does it work?!

Sun Apr 17, 2005 2:51 am

http://www.ebaumsworld.com/esp.html

It is not some multiple of 9 thing, I tryed this so manytimes.

I tryed numbers like 14, 5, 493, 0, -4, -599, and each time, it guesses my number.

Mind you, each step is different every time I play it!

I tryed it with and without the computer calculator.

Does anyone know how it works?!

I thought if I started with zero it wouldn't work.

It did.

It isn't guessing your number -- it tells you to think of a number, then add several things, then tells you to subtract your number, and tells you that you're left with whatever the numbers it gave you add up to.

yes, but everytime the resulting number is different from the other times, but each time it is the same number that I got!

Because each time they ask you to add/subtract different things...

of course it will always know, it subtracts the number you first thought of at the end leaving the equation it told you to input.

I figured this one out before.

It keeps track of the total amount you change it by.
For example:
Think of a number.
Add 2
Subract 1
Add 3.
Subract the original number.
You should have 4.

This works because it remembers the net gain. The thing just uses bigger numbers. I hope that clears things up.

I love these maths tricks ^_^

I do one with my friends and they think I'm pyschic ;)

1. Think of a number between 1 and 10
2. Multiply it by 5
3. Mulitiply it by 2
4. Divide it by the number you first thought of.
5. Add 4

And the answer is 14.
