College Help :S

Wed May 11, 2005 11:56 pm

My sister, a seventeen-year old junior in high school, just called me to say at the awards ceremony at our high school, she won a $60,000 scholarship to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. I think that's the name. :P

Oh, well, she was contemplating whether to go there, or stay in Florida, where she will have 5 free, state-paid years of college, or go up to New York, where all our relatives live. :S

Which should she choose, and have you heard about Rensselaer, and do you know if it's a good school?

woah thats alot fo money, I dont know much about the university but even if its terrible it'd be good to have a (free) degree under your belt!

I have a friend who is going to go to Rensselaer, I don't know much about the college in particular besides it's supposed to be a great engineering school and it has a reputation around here for being very selective about scholarships and that sort of stuff. I'm not sure if that helps you much, but that's what I know. :P

:P I wanna go there when I'm going to college (planning on getting that Bright Futures thing..)

But really, the Florida schools aren't bad. Plus, NY is freezing.

It's not THAT bad. :battar: I live in New York, of course we DO get some bad winters although usually we don't get too cold. Of course as I'm saying this it will probably end up being frigid tomorrow.

^^ Bingo. It's a very good engeneering school. If that's what your sister plans on doing, I'd tell her to jump at the opportunity.
