My kitty has run away...

Wed May 18, 2005 1:14 am

Horrible news. My beloved kitty cat, Fenix (well, his real name is Phoenix but we spell it like "Fenix" because it's sort of like "Felix the Cat." Yeah, well anyway.) has run away! :( He lives at my dad's house, which is about two miles away from my apartment. (I spend every other weekend's at my dad's house.)
I used to live with him, but when I moved into the apartment with my mom this year, we weren't allowed to take him. I was heartbroken, but my dad promised to take good care of him and I visited him after school sometimes. :)

But, somehow he got out of my brother's window...probably to chase the birds outside. He loved to watch birds. He's been gone for three days, but no one told me untill about an hour ago. :(

I loved Fenix, he was my best buddy. He would sit on top of my computer monitor when I was online, sleep on my lap when I watched TV and whenever I wrapped presents for birthdays or Christmas, he would come right up and sit in the middle of the wrapping paper, meowing and swishing his fluffy tail all around. And every night he slept next to me, burrowed underneath the covers all nice and warm.

It's really not going to be the same at my dad's house anymore with my favorite feline friend. I don't know what I'm going to do without him. Sleeping in an empty bed without a furry friend to cuddle is going to be lonely, that's for sure.

That's my kitty cat. :( I really hope he comes back, but for some reason I don't think he will. He always acted really tough, but in truth he was a big softy. And he didn't have a colar, so if someone finds him he won't be returned to us. (He would never wear colars. Somehow he would always manage to get it of. Heh, heh, he had quite a personality.)

I just need a few hugs right now! ;____;

*hugs*

That's depressing, but why did you find out so late?

They were afraid to tell me.

My dad thought that I would blame it on him, and was hoping that Fenix would show up at the house soon and I wouldn't have to know. But my mom told me tonight, figuring that I had a right to know that he was gone.
*hugs back*

*hugs* Be sure to check nearby animal shelters! Someone might have brought your cat in and you can get him back. Maybe put up posters or something. I hope you can find him.

Aww that's horrible. Maybe he'll come back in a few days because he's gone wondering. That's what my cat use to do.

Yea he might just be wondering around and be perfectly fine ^_^ He could be like that cat in that advert which has all the different families....

oh to be a cat 8)

AFI, you need a big hug!

I used to have 4 kitties and one day we left for awhile and left the windows open--screened in casement windows (with a top and a bottom). Well, when we came back, one of the windows had fallen down (closed shut) and the screen behind it had been ripped open and my favorite kitty was gone. I was so heartbroken and sad. And the poor guy was out in a very urban area. He had been outside a lot before--when I was in college, we lived in the country, so he got to roam around a lot. But never anyplace where there were lots of cars and people.

We called for him, put up signs, visited shelters, and finally, had pretty much had given up on him. When almost a month later, about 2 in the morning, we hear this wailing at the back door. He had returned! And, he talked and talked to us in his meow voice for hours. Couldn't tell whether he was yelling at us for being so dumb to leave the windows open or whether he was telling us of his adventures in the big city. I was just so happy to have him back in our life.

We never did figure out whether someone had just taken him (by cutting the screen and then he escaped from them) or whether he had gotten trapped between the window and the screen when the window fell down and had then clawed his way out.

So, I don't want to get your hopes up too much, but the return of a kitty is possible. I will cross my fingers and say a little prayer for you and your kitty.

And, please, check all shelters in your area, the police department, and the lost and found ads in all of the local papers. Putting up signs with his picture and putting a lost ad in the papers are good ideas also. And ask the neighbors. You never know if someone might have seen him around. And, check around the area--particularly locked garages, apartment building basements, and sheds. It's possible that your kitty could be locked in someplace. I say this because, a few years back, we had a stray hanging around our house for a few weeks and then completely disappeared--seems that she got locked in the neighbor's garage when they left for a week's vacation. Once they came back and opened the garage door, she scampered out--skinny, but still alive. Right then and there, I vowed to find her a no-kill shelter for a home. And, I succeeded.

I feel for you, AFI. Just talking about this brings back such wonderful memories of my crazy cats (can't have them now because my daughter is deathly allergic). You must miss him so much. :(

*huggles* I'm so sorry AFI. I have a cat too and I would be very sad if she went missing. I feel for you. Don't worry though he's probably just fine! Just don't give up hope! Keep looking he'll turn up somewhere!

OMG! *uber hugs* >w< I'm sorry for your great loss :( I used to have a stray tabby kitty myself and it ran away too so I kinda understand how you feel :(

On the side note, I love your kitty's breed! <3

Hey, don't talk in the past tense, you're giving up on your poor cat. He isn't dead he has ran away. My cat was missing for TWO WEEKS. She came back. And we never gave up hope. Cats tend to do this sort of thing. I'm thinking he'll just turn up when you're least expecting it. That's what cats do. They go missing for days and then just turn up and act like normally as if they haven't been missing at all ;)

Don't give up hope, and everything else I was going to say was already mentioned by someone else. :P

But he might come back, so don't lose hope. And, always remember the good times you had.

My cat never goes outside, so I never have to worry about that. But if she did run away, I would be really sad too.

*realizes something* Jaye, you forgot to give her a cookie...

So... have a cookie and another hug.

Wed May 18, 2005 12:40 pm

ah yes, how could I forget! *gives AFI large bunch of cookies* :3

Wed May 18, 2005 1:10 pm

*gives big hugs and a cookie lollipop*

My kitty once ran away for 2 weeks...we thought he was dead until one day he just showed back up on our doorstep meowin up a storm. He was declawed and still survived.

Don't give up hope! Keep thinking and praying for Fenix, and keep looking! I bet he'll come back. *hugs again*

I know how you feel. I had a puppy which ran away many years ago... :(

 Check animal shelters, check everywhere! Has Fenix gotten outside before? Maybe you should set tuna around the house and (s)he will come back. I know hw it feels, I've had it happen before. :(
