Camp Counsler/VBS Leader

Tue Jun 14, 2005 10:00 pm

Well, the Powers that Be at my church (not God, but the human leaders :-P) have gone insane. They have made me one of the leaders at Vacation Bible School. In other words, I dress up like a cowgirl and talk (with a major southern accecnt) to the puppet, Sunny. I'ts fun, and I look adorable (so says my mom). She's taken to calling me Dusty, my character's name. Here's a picture:

I'm also gonna be a counsler at church camp the last week of July. Have any of you ever done anything like this?

Edit: Picture should work now.

That sounds cool Robin, But the picture doesn't work, and everyone wants to see you in a cowgirl costume. :P

I can't say I've ever done something like that. I don't get out much. :P

Six years I suppose.
Tis good stuff.

I've never done anything like that, but it does sound fun. (Probably something I'd look back at and laugh about, however.) :P
And yes, *pokes* I do want to see that picture.

I went to summer camp when I was younger. I gave the counselors hell, until I was finally kicked out. :)

But I was happy, because there were snakes and gators in the water, which we had to do swim classes in twice a day. e.e

Haha, that's cool. We start setup for VBS at my church tomorrow. I'm going to be in the opening 'ceremony', and I get to rehearse singing and dancing to one of many rather cheesy songs so I can go up and do it in front of the all the little kids on Monday. It's going to be lots of fun. :D I think our theme this year is Kingdom of the Son, like an African Safari or something similar. I'm very excited. :)

Sorry about the pic, I put the link straight to my pictures on sprint.com (I <3 my camera phone) so that could have been the problem. Just got back from another fun day!! All the kids call me "Dusty" now :-P

Just last Sunday, we were doing this thing for the church to show what we did for VBS. It was called "Serengeti Eddie's Adventure" (Group VBS. Look it up if you want.).

Anyways- All the lines were played over the system from a CD, and we had to try and keep up with the actions. We didn't actually say anything, and we hadn't seen a script before either.

Well, there's always a silver lining - At least it was funny.

We do something like that, but it's "Dusty" (me) and "Sunny" (the puppet) talking to the congregation, the kids say some stuff, they sing a few songs (with the words) and the VBS staff gets a small token of appriciation...nothing big...

They had the good sense to stick me with arts and crafts over in this little corner of Catholicism. The temptation to scare the beejesus out of 5-year-olds with threats of fire and brimstone would be too strong.

"Stuart, what happens to little boys who annoy their Bible camp counselors?"

"I don't wanna say!"
