What do you think would happen if...

Sat Jun 25, 2005 12:52 pm

If everyone in the world jumped into the sea and peed at the same time? Would global water temperatures rise causing the polar ice caps to melt and flood?

Sat Jun 25, 2005 1:11 pm

With the entire population of the world in the sea, the water levels would probably rise enough to flood NYC. Have you seen The Day After Tomorrow?

Sat Jun 25, 2005 1:28 pm

the ice caps melting would cause minimal floods, a few feet at best.
youd lose a bit of beach-front not much else.

with six and a half billion peoples worth of displacement however...
thats, oh say, 60 LB average, timesd by 6,500,000,000 (i would personally plonk another three 0's onto that, but nine 0's is the accepted billion)
so given that i dont have a calculator to hand.
52,000,000,000 Lbs of displacement.
so im thinking some major, nasty evil flooding going on.

oh well, we can always hope that the ice age hurries up and weeds out the weak.

Uhhh, yeah... what he said.

...Y'know, I don't think I even want to know.

Well actually, though the displacement would cause quite a flood, the melting ice caps would also screw stuff up. They wouldn't make the worst flood ever, but they would throw off the ocean conveyer belt. We studied this in science. And watched the Day After Tomorrow. Watch the movie. It kind of sucks for like, film making, but most of what they say about the scientific part is accurate, except for the time frame.

But despite all of that, everyone peeing into the ocean at the same time would be really, really gross.

i do this kind of stuff for fun.
like working out how many miles there there are between Sol and Alpha centauri (about 6,000,000,000,000, not as many as youd think is it?)

Whenever you put anything in numbers it never seems as much as once believed. Aye, maths isn't my strong point though. It took me a whole 4 months to memorise Pythagoras Theorum! Four months!

And yeah, peeing in the ocean would have an interesting uhhh... colouring effect. But at the same time, I don't see what's so gross about billions of people urinating in the water. I mean, there are billions (probably more) of fish that have to find some way to dispose of their waste, yet you still see beaches packed to the full with people in summer...

You have the potential to calculate the mass of Jupiter. My friend did it and it was REALLY close. His answer was rounded to 1 decimal place while the answer is 2 decimal places.

They'd drown.

Sat Jun 25, 2005 3:36 pm

I think all the ocean and sea animals would be posioned, the water would turn yellow, and everyone would start screaming and flapping their arms from the gross-ness of it, therefore hitting everyone in the head, causing them to go underwater and drown, and then everything will melt and the world will explode.

And aliens will be watching this, shaking their heads questioning why they ever thought we were an intellegent life form. :)

SL where do you think these things?

Your average little boy would wonder what the hell he drank.

Sat Jun 25, 2005 5:22 pm

If everyone jumped in the sea, they'd drown if they cant swim, pee or not. :P

(And everyone jumping in the sea at the same time would already cause a flood.)
