Anything and everything goes in here... within reason.

I was wandering around the National Geographic website, and came across
this article. Apparently there are lion-tiger hybrids, known as ligers or tigons! I hadn't heard of them before... they look really amazing.
(there's also a good
Wikipedia article about them)
It really makes your mind boggle with ideas of hybrid animals... what do you think? Or is it just wrong?
I think it'd be great if my rabbit and guinea pig had offspring. Not very exotic, perhaps, but cute! (little hopping furballs)

He looks quite noble, like he should be sitting in the throne.

Hmm, I never saw a tigon before. We have a picture of the Liger in our form room at school.

I'd heard of them before Napoleon Dynamite. Feh.
I prefer zebroids

What?
...
I have heard of them before, but unfortunately the animals seem to blend rather than having a bright orange thing with black stripes and a mane.

I like the head, it looks good and has pretty markings, but the rest of the body is weird ... x.X
In that pic, the back legs look as if they might not be enough to support the bulky body :/

Yeah, there is something that looks wrong about the proportions. Maybe its not so bad once it stands up and the "fat" on its body sort of goes downwards.

Most four legged animals look strange lying down. Horses just look weird, like their bodies are way too big for their legs. This is probably the same.
Looking at other pictures of lying down lions and tigers it's about the same. The proportions don't look right (frankly they don't on my dog either when he's laying down.)
I've known about ligers since I was a little kid, so I find it more then slightly amusing now that everyone seems to know about them. They're cool. Them and Tigons... and all the other crossbreeds.
And on that note, Zebroids? *snorts* Thats not a proper name for them. It's Zedonk or Zorse or Zonkey.

I really like the first photo. Very nice

Awesome. I've heard of them before, but had never actually seen a picture until now.

Looks a bit odd...
There used to be a liger named Shasta in the zoo just up the street from my house. Absolutely the most beautiful creature I've ever had the pleasure seeing. Or....touching her poor, stuffed body.

That is great Liger picture, but you said stuffed? What happened?

She died. Of nice, natural old age. She was born in like 1973 I think.

Sad part is when I first heard of ligers a couple years ago, Liger Zero was the first thing that always came to mind XP
