Whoa, I'm totally jealous! That sounds amazing! Not so much the plane part; I'm not a great flier myself. Someone told me that it's safer to be in a plane than in a car... more car crashes than plane crashes or something like that.
Have a blast, and be sure to tell us all about it when you get back!

Yeah, you have less of a chance of being in a plane crash. If you hate your ears popping, get some chewing gum and chew it when you're taking off/landing. Works wonders.
Also, I think moose really do charge, but I've heard it's more of the females than males..

And if you can't chew gum (braces and whatnot) then chew Starburst.
I've never heard that about moose. Though when I went to Vermont and Maine I never saw any moose (I only drove through Maine though). I was all excited because of the "Moose Crossing" sign, and then I never saw any.
Have fun in Alaska!
Jewel grew up in Homer, Alaska.

DM, I'll fly over it, I think, if that counts.
Gum... great idea! I love gum, and it'll give me an excuse to make my mom buy me alot of it.
I was talking to my aunt (its her and her family we're visiting) and she said that they have moose like, once a week at least and they just wander in their BACK YARD!
Also, as if I wasn't already worried, my uncle is a military-something firefighter and apparently, they moved there to help with a base thats going to have missles...and they have like these HUGE drill things that are building the silos now.
Then my mom had to go and tell me about layovers. Apparently you can get stuck in an airport if the plane doesn't arrive in time and the airlines have to like, book you in a hotel and everything like that.
Thanks for the tips everyone! At least I have a whole entire two weeks to get ready...short notice, eh? I'll be sure to take pictures if I can find a camera...

o.O I thought you weren't supposed to eat Starburst with braces since it's all sticky and can create a real mess in the braces. They do have braces-safe gum though... It's called Freedent, and it works for me.

A moose would only charge if you provoked it, like getting between them and their young. Moose really aren't dangerous animals until you provoke them. Just use common sense and you'll be fine.
Anyway, have fun in Alaska. ^_^
