What do you do at sleepovers?

Thu Oct 27, 2005 5:00 am

Hi. :) I was remembering all the fun sleepovers we used to have when I was in school. My girls are starting to get to that age where they can have sleepover parties. I was wondering what kind of things did you do at ones you attended? I thought it'd be nice to keep a file of activites and such for when they're older, so things to do for any age would be good. :) I was going to post in Divas, but I realized that not all females are a member and males have sleepovers, too. Everyone has different ideas and experiences, so I thought it'd be fun to ask everyone. :)

What are some good sleepover activities?

When I was ten or eleven we would rent PG-13 movies and it would be scandelous...but movies movies movies. Now we just rent a few and spend the entire night watching them, eating, and talking.

Truth or dare! :P And other sleepover games.

Foooood. Tons of food. Complete junk.

Quite frankly, I only used to sleepover at peoples houses to use them for their computers. When I was at the sleepoverish age, I didn't have a computer (I did have a thing that ran off 8" hard disks...). Thus, friend = person with exiting civilization 1.

Movies, food, sleep.
*nods*

It's a good formula.

Just about anything but sleep? :P

Movies. Lots of movies. Usually scary ones, which prevent us all from sleeping. Then we talk, but we're so tired yet hyped up on caffiene that we forget everything the next day.

We were about the same, I think.

Except we usually snuck into the kitchen to have a 'midnight feast' ;P

Fully, anything but sleep.

My record is something like 46 hours with no sleep, 2 successive sleepovers - bad idea.

Anyway.

I normally just sit around talking to whoever happens to be awake, then I go make everyone breakfast. But great groupy sleepover games ...

Monopoly, Twister.

Those are the gods of all games.

Movies like everyone said... Hot chocolate and junk food, video games...
If your looking for ideas then I think something arts and crafty like jewlery making with beads or strings could keep them busy.

Movies, junk food.
I guess it's about the same for everyone. :P

I haven't had a sleepover since I was like 9 years old *sighs*

Back then I guess the main schedule was; play outside - play inside - watch TV - eat stuff - sleep :P

I'm trying to remember sleepovers, particularly ones for younger folks. We used to do a lot of makeovers and such using my mom's junky old makeup. And of course the crimping iron for our hair, since it was the 80s. Umm...I don't think we played a lot of board games, but as many mentioned, movies were the way to go. Truth or Dare, Concentration (a clapping game-thing that can involve a big group) were some non-board games we played. Sardines is a really fun game to play, or even just regular hide-and-seek. It doesn't matter the age, it's always fun. I wanna play Sardines now. ^_-

I'm a slight disadvantage for coming up with ideas, because I grew up on a farm. Most of the sleepovers I had (and I was always the one that had them) involved taking turns riding the pony, and my dad showing the girls how to milk the cow, then after exhausting ourselves coming in to watch movies and vegitate. Also, my mom ran a craftshop from our home, so she would usually have some stuff the girls could paint if we started getting on each others nerves because we ran out of stuff to do/to talk about. Maybe some inexpensive beads (if they exist :P) and floss to make jewelry would be fun as well?

Okay, in the end I'm not being particularly helpful. But encouraging a rousing game of Sardines wouldn't be a bad idea. In case not everyone is familiar with it, Sardines = a twist on hide and seek where one person hides, and everyone looks for that person. When they find her, they hide with her. The last person to find the hider is "it" and becomes the hider (I think). The challenge is finding a hiding space that will hide more than just you. You have to take into consideration the others that will be hiding with you. ^_^

I'd have to agree with movies. My friends and I recently rented Beauty Shop and spent the whole time oogling over the guys.

What's fun though, for my friends and I, is to play the prop game. Get random objects and make teams (teams can be one person, if you only have a few over) and the game is to just do funny things with the object. For instance, a lampshade was the prop once.. and Sarah was a lightning bug with it. It can get really funny.

But, yes. Movies. XP
