This Week's What If? Question of the Week -- CLOSE PLEASE

Wed Dec 28, 2005 6:04 pm

What if you could get your doctorate? What would it be in? (IE: anthropology, sociology, psychology...*insert another -ology here*)

I think being a physical antropologist like Temperance Brennan on Bones would be cool.
But I could never be a real antropologist. The section I had in school on it bored me to sleep.

It probably will be anthropology since I'm about a year away from getting my anthro BA.

Not really an 'ology,' but I'd get my doctorate in physics, specifically particle physics, quantum mechanics or theoretical physics (all of the easiest fields :P :P )

FORENSIC ANTHROPOLOGIST. Yuss. -huggles Bones-

Brennan owns you...

Really, though.....I've always wanted to study marine biology..

As someone who has a year towards a Sociology Masters...I would definitely not choose that. :P

I would like to get at least my Masters in Japanese or Theatre, and perhaps even a doctorate at some point so that I may teach at the university level for the potential for a full-professorship.

Odds of this actually happening are slim, but a girl can dream.

Just so you know, real forensic anthropology is nothing like Bones. In fact, my forensics professor despises that show. I know anthro majors who watch it just to make fun of it.

(You don't use elmer's glue to put together broken skull fragmants and you will very rarely recover an entire skull if it's been out in the wild for 2 years!)

Well since I'm working towards my Bachelor of Computer Science right now, I'd say Computer Science specializing in networking :)

Just about all the forensic (except forensic files) shows on TV are fake, nowadays.
It was the first thing I could come up with to say about it.
