My first instinct was to swoon over how adorably cute the hamster was, until I realised he was secretly plotting the death of all snakes, and that the snake was selling his own kind out.
Sad really.
But that hamsters still cute. Blast it.

As a loyal Countdown viewer, I am amazed that this story didn't make it into Oddball. Keith really missed out on a chance for another crazy story from Japan.

Awww...that's so cute. I had an evil hamster once--it "made friends" with my cat.

They actually solve their own mystery, there. They said the snake won't eat the hamster "despite" being fed on frozen rodents, but that's probably exactly why he doesn't attack. He's accustomed to pre-killed. Also the hamster must feel nice and warm, so the snake is probably quite oblivious to the "friendship", but it's cute that the hamster isn't scared.

Gohan refused to eat frozen-rodents so they (the scientists) presented him with Aochan, a live and warm rodent, and Gohan still wouldn't eat the rodent.
