Best ways to get your Teeth SPARKLY WHITE!

Sun Feb 12, 2006 4:43 pm

I have a question that I'm sure many of you would like to have an answer to....

..Whats the best way to get your teeth sparkly white?

Image

I've tried myself to do it, but cant get them THAT white.... and yet i know many people who DO have them that white, so i know its possible!

I've tried some Crest brush-on crap that you leave on for a half hour a day... didnt help... i use whitening toothpaste, and the new whitening mouthwash stuff..... I DO drink soda quite often, but I drink water after or rinse out my mouth so acids dont remain....

what do YOU Do to keep them white? Or are there any whitening stips or teeth covers with gel that REALLY WORK? or anything like that? or has anybody else tried something and failed?

those white strips are effectively bleaching your teeth. I read somewhere that if you're under 18, they can attribute to the sensitivity of your teeth later on?

I know people who swear by the laser treatment, but it's way expensive. I've always just brushed and flosed and eaten my veggies, I have pretty good results on that. But I can see how a Superhero could need super-shiney teeth.

It's funny you should mention this. For a long time now I've had the same problem with whitening, nothing worked. So I went out three days ago when I had some christmas money laying around and finally purchased Crest Whitening Premium Plus Strips.

I can't say how amazed I am. The very first treatment they were a shade lighter, and now after three days of six treatments (2 a day for 30 mins each) they are absolutely brilliant looking. I would be satisfied with this, but this isn't even the full results yet!. I still have TONS of strips more to go.

The trick is to wad up a bunch of papertowels and put them in your mouth to absorb every bit of saliva you can when you have them on. Otherwise it washes out the gel, rendering it useless, and it really burns. Some people have told me before I purchased the kit that their teeth was sensetive during treatment, but as far as I can tell that seems normal. I mean, it's working and it isn't hurting anything too much -- but what do you expect for peroxyde in your mouth?.

The price itself is really kind of expensive, but saves tons of money rather than going to the dentist. Premium Plus is around $33 USA dollars at Target stores.

It's so very worth it. I'm not afraid to smile anymore, and that's something I've delt with for over 7 years.

I used Colgate 'Simply White' brush on gel. Worked wonders... Took only a couple days and my teeth were a few shades whiter.
Plus, I only used it once a day, instead of the instructed twice...
I couldn't find anywhere in the instruction manual that says how long I was supposed to leave it on, it only said that it is reccommended not to eat for 15 minutes after applying.
So I just decided to put it on before I went to sleep every night.

Think is, once I stopped using it, my teeth went a shade yellower >___<

BTW - don't get too impressed by white teeth in photos, those are usually photoshopped.

OptiWhite teeth whitening gel. It tastes horrible (supposedly mint), but it works really well for my teeth.
Also, use Crest Whitening Expressions. :D

The ancient Romans had a very cheap and effective way of getting white teeth, urine. Just rinse your teeth with some high quality urine and you get your pearly whites very white. If you feel that you're above doing that, just use your everyday whitening products from the dental hygine aisle. The main whitening agent in those is none other than urea which is, you guesses it, the main ingredient in urine! To make up for that that, most chemicals used to get the urea into the toothpaste are cabon monoxide bonded with hydrogen peroxide. I would just like to note that any of those chemicals alone are designed to make you very sick at the very least :D

Science lesson over. Have fun :D

I don't know about TWW, but I don't need to whiten my teeth that bad. *now sick*

I've tried a few of the whitening strips, they didn't really do that much for me. Plus peroxide isn't all that good for your overall oral health. I have used PlusWhite 5 minute speed whitening gel - applied just to the front of my teeth with a q-tip avoiding the gums and sit with a really weird face so my lips don't cover the gel. Then just rinse off. That helped a little bit.

What has actually worked for me - slowly, but is working, is Crest Sensitivity Extra Whitening toothpaste. I do have sensitive teeth so the whitening is a bonus. I also use a braun oral b electric toothbrush (the one with the small round head).

Rinsing your mouth after drinking soda is a very good idea, according to my dentist. My biggest teeth staining thing is I love green tea. He told me that stains your teeth worse than cola or coffee!

I use Crest Vivid White toothpaste. It tastes good, and I started noticing a difference after three days. Plus, it works really good as just a normal toothpaste, and leaves your mouth feeling really clean.

Put a little bit of Baking Soda on your toothpaste when you brush your teeth.

Seriously. Oh. My. Gosh. It's unbelievable, and its cheap. Try it before you go out and spend tons of money on whittening stuff. It makes a noticable difference after a day.

Yeah, I've heard that works. Apparently, before toothpaste came out they used ALL baking soda. Blech.

Yeah, but who judges the quality?

There was once a guy, somewhere, promoting how drinking your urine is good for you, I'm sure he could be the Supreme Judge Of Urine Quality Control.

Though, to be honest, I think "quality urine" could seriously mean the person the urine came from hasn't been consuming drugs, or alcohol, doesn't have a bladder infection etc.

According to the show I got that tidbit from, the best urine was from a region of Spain and was imported to Rome by certain senators. My source for that was Modern Marvels: The Bathroom in ther segment on toothpaste and brushes.

heh, I hoped this would become an interesting topic... we need more topics like these!

Thanks for the great responces guys.... and im glad to hear that there are other people on the "I WANT white teeth" side of the conversation....

...while im not going to DISAGREE with that... im not going to agree with it.... white strips havent been around long enough for them to know that fact! They can only suggest it might happen... and no, im not a dentist or anything, but bleaching your teeth will have little effect on your teeth if you know how to take care of them. Bleaching your teeth would take off small bit sof enamel off of your teeth, but EXTREMELY small incriments that wont effect you. You are more likely to hurt your teeth by brushing them to hard, or if you are a person who likes to eat ice.... thats even worse. I actually do know a lot about this topic... maybe i should be a dentist! :D but its not like the bleeching is a long-term thing anyway. once your teeth ARE very white, if you take care of them, you can probably keep them close to being that white...

Thats great to hear..... i always wondered if those were worth the investment... they did sound quite expensive, but by your rating.... it sounds like you get what you pay for. If they work, i might just do that... or see if i could get them for a birthday present. And 33 bucks actually isnt THAT horrible if you get a lot of strips... you said you "have TONS of strips left"..... ill assume you just mean you have a lot left. In that case.... sounds like a worthy investment

im very careful not to be mislead by that..... i never listen to commericials or advertisements.... those "day by day" things are obviously fake... i only listen to word of mouth.... which is basically why i made this thread! Great point.... too bad many people dont understand the power of photoshopping...

you are a sick, SICK person. Plus, i tried that, and my breat was always horrible the next day, so i refused to go that path....

umm.. is this true? is this clinically proven to be safe? um... if this worked, why dont people do it more often?
