Clash of the Titans- The Beginning [Lock Please!]

Thu Mar 23, 2006 12:40 pm

"Clash of the Titans" is a new series of polls that pits one titan of today's world (companies, brands, etc.) against another. Because the range of topics for this is huge, when all available options have been used, the winner will be placed into the Hall of Fame.

A new poll will be made every week, on a Saturday or a Sunday. This week's poll will last a little longer because it wasn't started on a weekend. Also, the winner of the previous week will take on a new challenger, unless it's not possible anymore.

-----------

This week's poll pits the classic American automaker Ford against another US auto company, General Motors.

-----------

Facts about the Titans

Ford Motor Company
- Founded in 1903
- Produces Ford, Lincoln, Mercury, Mazda, Volvo, Jaguar, Land Rover, and Aston Martin vehicles
- Revenue in 2004 was $178.1 billion USD

General Motors
- Founded in 1908
- Produces Chevrolet, Buick, Pontiac, GMC, Saturn, Hummer, Saab, Cadillac, Holden, Opel, and Vauxhall vehicles
- Revenue in 2004 was $193.5 billion USD

-----------

Feedback
You can suggest any kind of brand name/company to compete, it doesn't just have to relate to the certain topic (in this week's case, automakers)

Ford. You dont get general motors here.

And please, stop being horribly pig headed seeing as this is the world wide web by saying *home grown*? Americans annoy me that way.

(nobody flame me, PM me if you wanna argue, this aint the place)

I say Ford. Why? Because if 56 people die, my mother gets a large share of the company. (Seriously). My great great grandfather was Henry Ford, one of his sons (one of his favored sons no less), decided to slander his father by saying that "cars would never take off, and that his father was an idiot for getting into the business", so he left the company.
And when he left the company, he moved to Alberta to become a farmer.
...

....

He may've formerly been one of Fords favorite sons, but he sure as shoes wasn't one of the smartest sons. We're not invited to family reunions.

Personal Bias! Woo hoo! (Plus I like Ford Trucks)

So much for "home grown". Both companies produce technically foreign cars (Saab, Mazda, etc).

I'll have to go with Ford Motor Company on this one.

I voted Food. The General Motors one doesn't seem to be very popular at all ;) Aww...

EDIT: Ford. Hehe. *cough*

I'm not a car guy, least of all not an American car guy. Too big. Too smelly. Too much fuel wasted. But since I have to choose an American car company, I chose Ford since I like their work better than other American models.

Grew up with my parents having old caddies and chevys, and know quite a few people with saturns and love them, so GM!

Yeah, my mom has a Saturn, and she loves it. I think they're pretty cool too, although I don't like how only the hood is made of metal, all the other parts are plastic (not internal, the actual outside of the car).

Plus the new Saturn Sky is hawt.

I prefer GM cars over Ford, so GM.

Ford.

Neither company is doing very well...but GM seems to be wasting more money (delphi is stinky anyway :P)

Both Compaines are in a tight spot, I voted GM for once. xD Because, this year or next year they are set to release the enviroment friendly Hydrogen car.
