Do you read the thread before you post in it?

Sat Apr 08, 2006 4:42 pm

well, do you read the entire thread before you reply? do you only read a couple? do you skim it?

I almost always read the entire thread, but it depends a lot on the thread. for instance, something like duck duck goose, i wouldn't read the whole thread, but for something like werewolf, you almost have to read the whole thing.

I'll read everything all the time. . . or enough. Depends on the nature of the thread, really.

It really does depend on the thread for me. If there's a lot of pages, I'll read a couple of posts. If there's only one or two, I'll probably read them all. The threads in NNV I usually don't read all of, for obvious reasons.

It depends on the type of thread, really. If it's a discussion, with good contentful replies, then, yes, I will. However, if it's a poll, or something similiar. Then I just skim it until I catch something interesting.

It depends on the thread for me; like right now, I just read everyone's reply because there isn't that many replies to read but I usually skim posts if there are a lot of pages.

Always. I don't want to type out a post, only to realize that someone before me said the exact same thing a page before the end.

Always, I hate repeating things that have already been said.

I read the first post if it's a poll.
If it's a question, I'll skim it so that I know if what I have to say has been said a billion times before, because if it has I won't post what I had to say.
If its just your average post, I only skim the posts.

Yes -- I have a constant fear of making an idiot out of myself. So in order to avoid that, I read the whole thread before making up my mind whether I actually want to post what I was originally going to say or not. :P

I always read the whole thing, unless it's a poll.

I always read the whole thing, to keep from repeating something that's already been said. I also find that often the topic will change slightly over the course of several pages, so you can actually manage to be off-topic by just responding to the first post. :P

If it's something like the lab ray results or duck, duck, goose, then I just post ^^; If it's a poll, then I skim it. If it's a poll with lots of pages, I skim the first. If it's a discussion, I read the whole thing.

I normally read the entire thread if the posts are short and theres 1-2 pages, otherwise I either skim it or just post.

It depends what the thread is about. Usually I do unless it's 10+ pages.

*cracks up*

Oh, the irony.

I tend to read the whole thread 90% of the time. Basically the only time when I don't are NNV threads (WW excepted), and plot threads when I've missed about 5 splits.
