Do you need to look at the keys when you type, or are you a proud touch-typist? As for me, I touch type (using the Dvorak keyboard). I find that it's so much more convenient than constantly looking back and forth from the screen and keyboard.

I find it very distracting to look at the keys while I'm typing. I've been typing since third grade and I'm a classically trained pianist, so it's very easy for me to type quickly without looking at what I'm doing.

More 'hunt and peck' than regular typing despite the fact that I can type without too much looking for the most part.

I'm a touch typer. I make mistakes occasionally, but it's easier than hunting-and-pecking.
I manage to type so quickly, that my brother says I sound like a machine gun. XD

Touch Typer
And I type extremely fast, might I add.

I don't need to look at the keyboard. In this point in time it may even serve as a hindrance since I've gotten so used to just feeling the keys, but I'm too lazy to experiment this. My typing is decently fast.

Um... whatever I feel like at the time. Sometimes I touch-type, and sometimes I don't look at the screen at all (meaning peering at the keyboard but not necessarily paying attention to each keystroke), either way is faster than looking back and forth between the keyboard and screen. I type the same speed regardless, which is decently fast, but I go back and check for errors, usually, after I type something anyway (unless it's in Messenger, then you can forget it.

).

I'm mostly touch type but some times I look down. I only really started typing about 2 years ago. My fastest wpm is a pathetic 70 words per minute. My average typing speed is a leisurely pace of about 40 wpm. Several of my class mates could get well over 90 words per minute. I feel so lame.

I used to peck. It was horrible.
Then I took a class required for Web Design, Keyboarding.
I'm glad I had to take it.

I hated my typing class. There was a program where you had to type an entire sentence with a time limit and if you made one mistake the whole sentence would have to be retyped. The most annoying thing in my life. My teacher for the class was also really obnoxious. She would give us really obscure definitions that could easily be enterchangable with other ones. I still hope she dies to this day.
The only reason I ever got any good at typing was because I joined a DBZ themed chatroom, then I got YIM.

I touch type, though not really "correctly". I mainly use my first and middle fingers, but it gets the job done, and I know where all the keys are.

I use a combination of both, although most of the time I use touch-typing. I never had to take keyboarding (still not sure why), but about 4-5 years ago I was a horrible hunt-and-pecker. Because I got the IM programs, and got addicted to the Internet, my WPM has increased alot.

I "touch type", and I use all the fingers on my hands. We had to play some computer game when we were in elementary school that taught you how to type and where to correctly put your fingers, but it was really frustrating, and I basically taught myself how to type after a while. The only keys I don't use my fingers with are the numbers, which I have to look at the keyboard to hit. Otherwise, I never look down at my hands to type. I'm faster than most people at my school, and a lot of times some people in my classes ask me to type something for them because I can get it done the fastest.

I touch type and I correct as I go. Most of the people I IM with complain that I type too fast

I'm such a slow typer I use the onscreen keyboard to save myself time.
