ARGH!!!

Sat Jul 10, 2004 3:23 pm

I have an absolutly KILLER sore throat. I can barely swallow, it hurts so bad!!! I have cough drops, they aren't working, I took tylonal, isn't working, and I gargled salt water, worked for about 5 mins.
My mum hasn't made a dr. appointment yet, so I am stuck for about 2 days or more dieing. Isn't that fun? :P

I don't have a headache or a fever, I am just a bit dizzy, and when I went to gargle the salt water, I discovered that I can't really open my mouth that much.

I can't talk well, almost like a tonsil is so big it is blocking my voice box. I don't sound like I have a cold.

Help Please, I am dieing.

Hmm... i think i know how you feel, i had it a few years ago...

the only things that can work are to rest a little bit and drink a lot...

Take a supressant like Sucrets.... they usually numb the pain for a bit. Drink hot liquids, maybe some icecream

I had that last month. The doctor said it was a throat infection in my tonsils(but they had been taken out, go figure). He gave me stuff to gargle which numbed my throat so I could eat and drink, but he told me just to wait the infection out. That's really all you can do. Sorry.

I've always had a problem with sore throats. It can get really bad for me. There's really nothing you can do besides take Sucrets (which are little miracles ;) ) and if you drink something warm and sugary. The sugar will coat your throat. You can heat up some sugar water (heat up water and dissolve sugar into it). Another drink that has gotten me through some tough sore throats is warm jello. Make a pitcher (something that you can fit into your microwave or heat up easily) of the warm water with jello powder mixed in. That helps and it comes in different flavors, so you can have a bit of variety during your suffering. When it cools and turns to jello, just heat it up when you need more and it will liquify again.

I wish you luck and I hope you get well soon. I know how you feel and I deeply sympathize. Also, try not to talk. Talking will irritate your throat more. If you can sleep it off, that's the best way to pass it.

Aw, last time I felt like that I had my tonsils taken out. Don't eat rough foods or peanut butter. Stuff that slides down your throat is good, and drink ALOT. Hope you get well soon.! :)

I don't know if this would work...but when I have a sore thorat, I drink something carbonated of all things.

I'll give you some advice for a sore throat. Don't sit around all day watching Friends. I tried that last time I had a sore throat, and the laughing just made it worse.

Honey is good. Anything with salt will be bad. That is all.

Take a mirror and open your mouth to see what the problem is. it could be strep, swollen tonsils, or just a normal sore throat (where you wouldn't see much). I would continue gargling salt water, and if it's strep or swollen tonsils to urge your mother to take you to the doctor sooner. Ginger ale sometimes helps.

I had my tonsils taken out before, and if it comes to that I suggest eating lots of ice cream. Lots and lots of ice cream. I wouldn't attempt to talk either.

I feel your pain. A while ago I had a major infection and my throat killed. I had it for about a week before I went to the doctor. I had to take medicine for a while. All I can recomend is lots of water, and rest as much as you can. Get well soon.

This is pretty obvious, but drink lots of water. My mom told me drinking warm/hot water helps, but I just drank bottled water all day. Stay away from milk, I think it makes your throat feel even worse because it coats your throat and it makes it feel a little sticky...also stay away from pop and other sugary drinks.
