I want to try this, but I don't live where there are lots of these rocks like this.

But what I would like to do is try balancing some when no one is around and just leaving them. That would really confuse people I think, if they found stacks of perfectly balanced rocks with no explaination as to how they got that way.
Oh and if all else fails, I can just glue them together!

I'd like to be the person who knocks them down.
don't know what it is but I like to destroy things like that. I build sandcastles just to knock them down like I'm godzilla, same with little snowmen.... probably why my daughter won't build things with me anymore

oh yeah! i saw some guy doing that in some outdoorsy show. the guy was in a lexan box with rocks in it, so as to prevent people from knocking down with rocks

How can I balance rocks, if I can't even balance myself?
That's cool, though. ^-^ And you're right, smudge -- I would be quite frightened if I found a balanced pile of rocks with no one around.

Those are actually pretty cool. I used to create rock towers, although they looked more like the Leaning Tower of Pisa than actual art.
If you enter into Proctor, MN from off I-35 there is a stack of rocks on top of a really large boulder... not that anyone here actually lives near there, but still.

People do that? I seriously thought they were like that by themselves.
There's this rock area I drive through every day, and theres like 50 trillion rock structures like that. I thought they were just like that from when the road was blasted out.
Ohhh lordy I'm an idiot.

I always get the urge to knock stuff like that down when I see it. XD

There's an artist named Andy Goldsworthy who does things like this. He makes the most lovely books. It's terribly addicting stuff when you actually see what he's doing. He's got a movie, Rivers and Tides that talks a lot about the theory behind his work.
But I think a lot of his other stuff is cooler.

Wow, It is very artistic what people can do with just the rocks and leaves and snow around them. I'll have to try something like that!
